Adding fur trim

Postby paul2809 » Fri Jan 05, 2018 2:27 pm

I am wanting to add some fur to my mens rhobe with a nice size collar and trim all down the front of it as well as on the cuffs..
My rhobe. Is red and black colored..
My qeustion is...
Is it cheaper to find a used full lenght mink and have a shop take the mink apart and add it to the flannel rhobe?
This is a project ive been lookin at for a long time thought this would be a nice touch.
Now.. I dont mind rabbit fur but i prefer mink.
Maybe a think mink collar for it..
Im sorry that i dont have a picture of my rhobe.
The rhobe is s full lenght and aprox 2x size..

Cost is going to depend upon the furrier or other person you contract to do the project for you, plus of course the cost of the furs to add. It may be cheaper to find whole skins and have a furrier add them, plus then you will know how old the furs are, as opposed to buying a used coat with an unknown history.

I looked into something similar early last year and couldn’t find a single furrier, in North America to do this. If you find one let me know.

I’m slowly discovering that some furriers only want high ticket jobs and won’t bother with a trim. In my case I was wanting white fox and was told NO.

Did you try USA Fox in Duluth? You are correct about the preference for big ticket items though.

USA Foxx looks like a furrier you can have a lot of truck with, but sadly it wasn't the case for me. I didn't inquiry them about a trim, but I did on a silver fox bedspread I wanted. To be honest, I got frustrated with the lack of communication or helpfulness by the people who run it. A quick check of Google Reviews backed up my suspicions, as I'm not the only one who has been unable to get any work done with them.
Lynxette, have you done business with them before?
