I was in Denver so maybe I needed to get away from Denver to the ski resorts where you can see more.

@minkme I pulled off my “Homage to minkme” this morning and ran a chore this morning adorning the full length Blackglama mink. About 3 or so days ago, I had a little morning exploration in the Crystal Fox - the goal is to run the gamut of 7 furs we have before the winter is over…and if it dips down to the 10s - 20s just wear one out throughout the day. This evening while “closing up shop,” I wore the Full length Blue Fox… oh my goodness, so exhilarating to wear that one outside!

@minkmeHoping you you’ve been able to zero in on your next fur.

Nice.. -8 windchill here this morning, so I got in a quick walk in full length racoon and hat.. still no snow on the ground here, but the -2 temp and 30kmh north wind definately made it an excuse to wear the fur coat... on the way home I stopped at the other park I goto and went for a walk around the duck pond.. crossed paths with a friendly older lady, said hello we asked each other passing how we were my reply was nice and warm... her reply was thats a beautiful coat...  Nice way to start the fur season off...

I think it was last year that you purchased a Lynx coat. Do you ever anticipate wearing that one out? I don’t think we’ve had the please of seeing it here yet. 🙂

Thats pretty awesome that you received that compliment. Hope more to come in the few months!

Sorry for a little bit off topic...

Since I live in Hong Kong, a place where it is much warmer that of in the North American and the Europe in the winter (still can drop to below 10°C some days in Jan & Feb), and next week will drop to ~12-18°C.

But since I really want to wear my fur parka outside, I would like to hear your opinion about when to put on a fur parka in the EU and NA regions, is it only suitable to wear fur/fur parka below 10°C or even below 0°C in your places?

Thanks!!

For my wife for the outside walk around the probably no more than 4 degrees Celsius (39 deg F)

I would also surmise it also depends if you run “hot or cold”. My wife would rather be cold than hot and once we enter the foyer of the hotel, she immediately has to take off her full-length or she claims she’s going to be sweating buckets.

I went out for a walk in it at the end of the season at the park.. the day started at -4.. by the time I got to the park it was above zero and the sun was out , it was late March / Early April already and the sun was fairly warm, so it got rather warm pretty quick... It is an option for tomorrow if its cold enough...

It all depends really....  For me zero is still fairly warm being from Winnipeg... I find anything around zero anything longer hair/heavier coats like Coyote, Silver Fox, Racoon, Beaver are just to warm for me (unless there is an associated wind) Mink on the other hand I don't find it as warm of a coat personally... I think it depends on the time of year.. right now being no snow and all, even at zero degrees, I personally feel out of place wearing a full length coat even just walking... now tomorrow is -18C in the morning, so snow or no snow, thats fur weather.. come March and April even with snow, the temps are above zero.. Winnipeg people are pretty crazy, the other morning when it was -8 with the windchill I wore full length raccoon coat and hat, I drove a lap of the park before I left and saw someone standing outside their car wearing shorts and a sweatshirt having a smoke...

I’ve noticed the sun and wind are a major factor. 30°F and sunny can feel warm in a heavy coat. 45°F cloudy and windy, I have no problem wearing a fur coat. I also choose to wear a lightweight shirt underneath my coat in warmer weather.

And it’s been quite bleak and windy these past few days. I think temps are supposed to drop into the 20’s and 30’s next week for us too so fur sightings should definitely be increasing by thanksgiving and on into early December

Still floating in the high 30s F consistently in the wee hours of the morning in my area - so I’ve taken the opportunity to stroll out on the property the last few weeks - already went out in the Blue and Crystal Fox dream full-lengths as well as the full-length Blackglama. A couple of days prior I strolled off property a little bit wearing a brown full-length just to enjoy the moon, stars, and the peacefulness.

Seriously wished I had started these morning adventures decades ago but it’s never too late right?

For those who are still a bit skittish about wearing furs outside the comforts and privacy of your own bedroom, take that first baby step and go outside just for a moment and wear it for what it was made for - to give the wearer a luxurious feeling while keeping you warm.

I’m still not as bold as @WinnipegFuror @Panther10to stroll out in broad daylight… but I assume, some time I’ll have that “F it” moment and just go for it. I’m so much farther than I was even 9 months ago.

It’s the easiest thing in the world. You just have to get out of your own way. Society has come a long way when it comes to acceptable fashion and while furs are still seen as extravagant and luxurious, at the end of the day it’s still a winter coat. We’re just braving the elements, same as everyone else. Some people make the attempt with synthetics, others go for natural fibers.

Exactly what @Panther10 said..

I think we all went through that phase... I know I went through it, started with just going in my own backyard... then it progressed to driving my mom to work because no one would notice a fur coat in the car right..well probably wrong.. then it progressed to going for a walk in the park, but always finding the paths no one walked on.. now its just park in the lot at the duck pond and go out.. I often hope to cross paths with people now when Im there, especially women more my age or older.. they are the ones that seem to appreciate furs more because they grew up with them as well... and in the end, is there really a gender specific garment anymore.. to me a fur coat is a coat.. its an article of clothing.. yes some are more extravagent then others.. like I obviously would grab more attention in a full length lynx then a full length raccoon... the entire buttons do up one way or the other to me means absolutely nothing anymore... the average person isn't going to be walking along and point out hey that raccoon coat does up the "wrong way"

I understand you honestly, surely different types of fur favoring the discretion but don't be ashamed of wear a voluminous and fluffy fox fur... I agree with you, older ladies appreciates the fur and wear it, often I talk of fur with older ladies and I love this moments...

I ask by your mom, what your mom think about your fur ? Never forget of enjoying your walk...

My current thrill is to look at my weather app and find out when it’s the coldest in the morning and take a little stroll around outside at that time of day.. most of the time it’s before daybreak but today it was afterwards. If someone should see me, I’m sure no one would ever fault you for wearing the most warm full length coat at the coldest part of the day!

The next big step for me is to wear the fur at the brightest time of day but below freezing temps. For now, I love my little early morning magic hour 🙂

Well winter finally hit up here and it hit pretty hard.. temperature was only -14 but the NW 30G40kmh wind dropped the windchill to -27.. so had a nice stroll this morning in raccoon... crossed paths with an older lady and polite good morning.. not even a flinch about wearing a fur coat at that temperature.. on the way home from work, went for a walk arond the duck pond at the other park I goto.. no one was there, probably cause it was so cold lol... couple of cars in the lot when I got back to mine... but yeah.. a nice double fur walk day for sure! Need to get gas in the car too...so may just get that fur coat back on and fill the car up...

@kev86 The raccoon coat was actually my moms... she got a mink years ago, and the raccoon basically became mine... my mom was always one of those its freezing out you better wear a fur coat... so this raccoon more or less became mine... I remember being 16 years old and her driving to the other end of the city and Id be wearing this huge raccoon coat and hat...it was heaven, but Id never go in with her where she was going.. back then that was definite fear of what is someone going to say..a 16 year old boy wearing his mom's fur coat... there were several days Id drive her to work both wearing fur coats.. that was way back in the early 90s though.. she doesnt wear the fur coats anymore, shes more afraid of what people will say vs me I could care less...

This is a beautiful story, I understand this raccoon is a fabulous gift from your mom. I know your mom but you don't inviting her for a fur walk ?

This is bad for your mom, I'm surely she would enjoy her mink during this cold period... Take care of her...

Oh I know all too well about this. And if you already have achy joints, it gets exacerbated when the drop in temperature hits.

Well, the drop in temperature has definitely and consistently has lend itself to fur wearing in the evening too! Next week there’s an outdoor holiday event and the wife has decided to wear hers out too. Looking forward to seeing her stroll out in warmth and luxury. On more than occasion a lady passerby will drop a line like, “Oh, you’re definitely warm!”

I know that, after we don't know why we don't see ladies wear fur on the street but the principal reason is the attitude of people... I understand much people dislike fur but fur lover want only be respected and not judged, we make the choice of wear animals and we don't are ashamed...

The attitude towards fur has really shifted here in Sweden. It is now quite popular again. I see furs every day now that it is cold.
