allfurme
Cwm - the end of a glacial valley which indicates where the glacier first originated. PS there is usually a lake present. Fjord - a glacial valley Bank - the near vertical side of the glacial valley Glyphs - an old term for graffitti Vext - another word for annoyed Quiz - another name for a professor Therefore the professor is annoyed at seeing graffitti on the bank of a glacial valley above the lake that indicates where the glacier first originated. Goodness, it is so simple, even a genius could understand it!!!

allfurme
UncleJoe420, In response to your query re 'VEXT', you could be seen to be correct, but please read this: http://www.chaos.org.uk/~pdh/string/alphabet/mputnam.htm
allfurme
Bob23, My suggestion is the only one that makes any real sense, or the nearest to real sense. The nearest i got to using a pangram in every day conversation was reciting the alphabet at junior school.
FrBrGr
Heck, as far as I am concerned, Christmas is always (partially) held on the 26th in the US. No, you're wrong, Piotr - Christmas is held in the US beginning somewhere around Halloween (31 October) and ending on 30 December - Just in time for New Year's! In Pittsburgh (and I guess other places that celebrate the Orthodox Christmas) I'm guessing that it goes on into mid-January. I'm serious - ! It won't be long before we'll start seeing ads for Christmas stuff! It builds and builds until everyone is sick-to-death of it, which is sometime during the after-Christmas sales . . . allfurme
My thought is; Christmas, God i hate Christmas; why i am fed up with it by the end of October.
Fox
You just about hit the nail on the head FrBrGr. It used to be that it ads would only start after Thanksgiving, but not anymore. And it bugs the H-E-double hockey sticks out of me 'cause it's just a means for the corporations to make more money. Christmas sadly has become WAY too commercialized. Ravens8
Well hold on - Christmas is simply christmas. A festive time to celebrate the birth of Christ - The winter solstice - A bit of a family get together and good cheer in mid winter - The recognition of light in the darkness (christmas candles). a mad shopping fest..........or whatever. Each one of us has the choice to celebrate the occasion in whichever way we want. It's really not a bad thing to have a bit of fun as a festive season to lighten the bleak mid winter. There is no law that says we have to celebrate it in a commercial way. It's up to us to decide whether we want to be drawn into the ridiculous commercialism of Christmas. Free choice is one of the things that makes us human. There's is nothing to hate about Christmas in it's own right.. But if you hate the commercialism aspect, then dont let yourself be drawn into it. Just celebrate it or not, as you want to celebrate it (or not). Not at the beck and call of profiteering con artists who see Christmas as a way to fleece every non thinking person of their hard earned money. Choose how you want to spend Christmas, and just do it. Giving yourself up to the fun, the caring, the reunion, the thoughtfullness to others, the re-emphasising of family, or whatever. After all, There's not much else to have a song and dance about in the months of winter. Personally, I love revisiting for a week, the deep excitement I use to have as a kid at christmas, the symbolism of it, and the idea of a fat white beard swanning around the sky on a sledge for a night. It may be rubbish, but it's a great to fantasize briefly, and I dont even think about the profiteerin fatcats. If that's their idea of Christmas, then so be it, but it's not mine. As in all things guys - if you don't exercise your free choice in life , you will lose it. And then life becomes very dull. Besides - reindeer are nice too
allfurme
Ravens8, I have tried to tell people how commercialised Christmas is and how it should be celebrated in a true Christian or Pagan way (not that i am either) and i get called Scrooge or Bah-Humbug. Christmas is terribly commercialised and i think that a lot of people enjoy it that way because it fills a huge vacuum in their miserable lives. Guest
My mother is a Jehovah's Witness. Now that makes for a fun Christmas. Personally I celebrate Humbugfest and have a really good time.

Guest
There is something wonderful about the thought of a Jehovah's Witness girl beating a guy into submission with a fox o nine tails. You do not know how the whole "good girl turns bad " can be the most amazingly dark fantasy for a guy. We are not worthy, Madame Tryxie. While I respect your mum's decision, do I detect that you are less than enamoured with it? Bur still do not celebrate christmas?. If you wanted to I am sure we could make it a special Christmas for you here! But I do take your point about it being way too commercial. I used to be a Mormon so I know what you are going through. I didn't used to smoke because that's their big form of denial. Now I soooo enjoy it. I can see you rebelling in a similar way and roaming the streets at night ripping guys throats out for blood. Oh did I mention I have a mild vampire fantasy However should I have read you wrong Tryxie and the faith is still important to you then forgive me. Its just your other post has got me all flushed. Guest
Sorry to disappoint, but I was never a Witness, that was my mother, just after she gave up being vegetarian, she was searching for something and fell over it on the doorstep. It eventually drove me away from home and I

Guest
Yes yes mistress! Back to the mother of us all; back to the pines and the fur; the forests from which we sprang forth; and the climes of cold to where we followed the great herds, wore the furs of those that hunted them too in admiration of their prowess and to keep us warm; to propagate in worship of all of its wonders. Makes me wanna howl.
