Correct way to measure a fur coat?

I was just wanting to know what is the correct way to measure a coat if the size isn't labeled on the inside of the coat.

This can be done in a variety of ways. The important thing is that who ever is using the measurements and the person taking the measurements understand precisely what is happening. After years of trying communicate just that on eBay, I have found a formula that works for me.
