I have always wanted to score a Raccoon coat and found one in good condition for $110. Did I get a good deal or should I have passed?

That is an amazing deal if the cost is in good condition like you said.  However the price being that low, makes it sound too good to be true.  Ask lots of questions to the seller.  Ask to see many pictures.  Good luck hope it works out.

Honestly this is a great deal, the coat in good condition and the inside don't have dommage... ask the seller for pictures inside/outside.

I hope for you the coat are fine and you enjoy it...

There is a small tear in the liner, according to the seller, but other than that, it seems in very good condition.

It is not finn raccoon. I think that the coat is made of pieces coyote fur. I think you should better look further for a real finn raccoon or a coyote coat made of big pelts.

I agree, this is not a Finn raccoon. I think this coat made with coyote fur and look like not high quality honestly...

Good luck...

I bought it anyway. $110 isn't terrible. If it's coyote, that's okay. I always wanted a coyote garment. Even if the quality isn't great, it was worth the risk, in my opinion. We'll see.

OK. It arrived a few days ago. It feels okay, though not as soft as the pictures made it look. It fits well and doesn't seem to be shedding. I think I look pretty awesome in it. I will share a selfie here once I get the unruly mess I call my hair cut. I made an appointment to drop it off at a local furrier to be checked over and have a few minor issues taken care of.

*Update* I took it to my local furrier. He brushed it and examined it for about 5 minutes.

Furrier: You gambled.

Me: And?

Furrier: You lost.

Basically, he said it was stitched together with leftover pelts pieces and was done by someone who didn't really know what they were doing. Then he had me try on a hooded coyote bomber (which I fell in love with until he said it was $1800). He also had me try on a Rex Bomber and honestly, you can tell the quality difference between what I brought in and what they had in stock. It was my first experience walking into a furrier and they couldn't have been more welcoming.

So, long story short: it's going to be recycled or turned into a craft project. Live and learn.

I agree and especially if there isn’t a label associated with the cost. And thats the reason why there are brands in this industry that we can faith in and should be willing to pay a premium (within reason) for craftsmanship we can trust. Retailer labels such as Koslows or Flemington Furs you know there’s a standard they want to uphold. Ben Kahn, Blackglama on the supplier side… and I know I’m skipping a gazillion more.

Well, there is a bright side to all this. I got a 50% refund from ebay on the dud. Also, when I mentioned what my furrier said and how much I loved both the coyote and rex bombers to my wife, she shrugged and said, "I'll help you save for the one you want."

"Behind every dark cloud is a silver lining" - looks like you've made lemonade from the lemons, nice one
