We are planning to go on a trip to Germany to visit a christmas market. But which town is the best to visit in fur?

We went to Munich last year, and it was a fab trip. The Christmas markets were definitely one of the highlights of that holiday. The temperature got down to about -7C, and there was a lot of snow. My other half wore her raccoon-lined parka, and also her hooded crystal fox stroller.

Love to see what a hooded Crystal Fox stroller looks like! My wife has a full length Crystal Fox but for practicality, I’m sure she’d wear it out more if it was at Stroller length.

Munich is a good address, although I haven't seen many furs last year within 1-2 weeks I've been there. Nevertheless on a smaller Christmas market two younger woman wore furs. In Berlin fur seems to be worn more often, also due to party, gay and queer community. In smaller towns like Heidelberg fur is uncommon. But anyway, it's absolutely okay to wear furs.

Munich is maybe the nicest big city in winter, also in terms of Christmas market. The other big cities are also good, yet the weather is maybe worse. You might want to go to a small Christmas market in a local neighborhood. If you want more picturesque old towns try smaller town like Strasbourg, Heidelberg or Nuremberg. Or Austria. Basically whole Germany will become a Christmas market next week.

Thanks for the advice @LeComte, we’ll check them out too for maybe a trip next year. We noticed a real fur stall too at the medieval-themed market in Munich (I don’t remember the name). They were selling some hats, pelts and other items! We are going to some Christmas markets in the UK over the next few weeks. The temperature has dropped to -2C here which is pretty cold for us Brits. I do appreciate the rest of the Europe, and also the Canadians, will be laughing … 😂

And what about essen, köln or düsseldorf? They are a bit closer to home.

Christmas markets are everywhere in Germany. You will find some nice ones there too. Personally I can't give you any advice there. Düsseldorf is leaning fur-friendly (old money), Köln maybe too (huge gay scene), both are also big in Karneval, another opportunity to wear and watch furs.
