My new Lynx

Recommended Posts

Totally taking a chance on this one... did my usual fur search on facebook, and this was literally just listed... Unfortunately, its in a city thats a 2.5 hour drive each way for me... She said she could courier it to me, so I agreed to it... I just hope its as amazing as the picture looks... An absolute steal for $170 Canadian couriered to me... $150 for the coat, $20 for the courier... Ive asked her to send me the track info as soon as its shipped so I can get the courier company to hold it at their depot... otherwise it will just get dropped off and left on the front step...

Wait a minute @WinnipegFurBuyer Beware. This looks exactly like the one that @CoyoteFoxwas salivating over! Check his thread - I know that both of you live in Canada but Unless you both live relatively close, CoyoteFox said that his was a fake offering.

I straight up messaged the seller and said this appears to be a scam, the exact coat is shown in multiple sites.. she insists she is sending me this coat... paypal says they cant do anything because it as a friends/family transfer... not holding my breath.. @Coyotefox where was the site in texas you saw it?

Did she say she’s going to provide a tracking number right away when it’s shipped or when she’s sending it off? Also, I think you mentioned that you saw it on a FB type marketplace. There should be reviews of some type for this individual I’m sure (most people don’t just right up and sell a fur coat as their only listing, I’m assuming) Curious in what areas of the country they claim to be located.

Lastly, if it IS a scam, would you be kind to expose the identity of this person so others in the forum don’t get impacted as well?

For your sake - I really do hope it’s a legitimate offer and that they were just fibbing where they were located so they can have a higher chance to sell.

I’ve seen the listing in the Chicago area for a similar price so I’d agree that it’s a scam. Also never send on PayPal via Friends and Family unless they’re actually someone you know and trust. Unfortunately, that money is gone.

Yep... do you happen to have the links for the coat in the Chicago area if its still active? Big mistake on my part.. at least it was only $150 and not $750.. still a good burn job...

Well a small update... it seems when I learned that this was probably a scam, I immediately called my bank and alerted them of the paypal payment.. I also messaged paypal about it... it seemed like it was going no where...

As of lastnite I asked the person if they had sent the coat yet, and was responded with a No, I will in the morning.. I also said, Id like a picture of the coat in the box as well before you ship it...

This morning at 546AM the person messaged me and said, you redeemed your payment so I am not sending the coat, and it is relisted.. I also checked my banking and noticed that there has been no paypal activity on my account.. that would have shown up by now Id assume.... so maybe the bank put a stop on the transfer... I will keep checking my bank account.. maybe this is the way they are doing this though, transfer family and friends, then claim the person redeemed the payment, and continue to relist the item collecting $150... For all I know the paypal will show up in the next few days...

You can see the relist here.. the person listing it also created a facebook account this year, a single picture of herself.. Lesson learned for sure on this....

So sorry. Did you write to the seller and let him that your money was indeed withdrawn?

You and @CoyoteFox should flag it! I would too if I could somehow open the link into the app itself. Absolutely horrible and dishonest practice.

On a cheerier note, I did just visit a higher end garage sale and I found this Sakowitz furs Lynx jacket. It was unfortunately a size medium but I put a bid on it anyways. Fingers crossed I get a phone call Saturday!

Sakowitz! Classssssic brand! Mind if you share what your bid was? I’d be tempted to put something between $300 and $500. If the piece blended better perhaps higher.

You’re going to hate me… it was listed for $250… I put a bid in for $125 because I really don’t need a smaller size like that but if I get it, I get it. You know? We’ll find out Saturday

Not going to hate you but just darn jealous of you. I hope you get it… I’ve eBay’ed a similar coat perhaps stroller length and size L for “the wife” and put a bit about $500 - didn’t get it but it was one of those situations where happy if you DIDN’T get it (I can put $500 in better use else where) or happier if you DO. (Just thinking of my wife wearing a luxurious lynx stroller gets my heart beating a little faster…)

I’ve reconciled with myself that likely I’ll never get a Stroller length Lynx coat for the wife for anything less than $700z

Keep us informed!

Nice! Good luck!

I did flag that coat as a scam... it was funny the person literally just moved over to another small town in the province over, and made up a new facebook name.. you probably cant see that link because I flagged it and the brandon one as a scam.. Im betting if I search elsewhere in Canada in a 500km radius it will pop up again..Anyone who knows anything about furs knows there is value in that coat and probably got ripped as well.. Im not the first.. and they use the same ploy.. send family friends, then claim you blocked the payment, which you can't do, and then delete the ad after theyve got your cash.. then move onto the next one..

Looking back on it, I might go tomorrow to even see if it’s still there. They were supposed to call me if it sold but so far I haven’t gotten a call. Fingers are crossed.

I will say it is possible to get a Lynx stroller for under $700… previously I got 2 different Canadian Lynx strollers for my partner, 1 we kept and eventually sold to a friend and the 2nd was unfortunately damaged in shipping (box was wet when it showed up and absolutely trashed the coat with mold and mildew and it even had a nice hole where the box was poked by something, but it was the shippers fault because the seller packaged it super well and bought insurance on it). Both lynx coats were ballpark $650-$750 and were size L and XXL (we were planning on having matching strollers).

The only reason I did not buy the Lynx in the picture from the garage sale is because it is a Medium at best. Neither of us could fit into it but we could definitely just have it around the house or eventually sell it and make a profit or turn it into something.

Best wishes

Unfortunately I did get the call this morning, some lucky younger lady got it for a steal: $187.50
