dongleboy
Love him or loath him, there are many photos of Trump in his younger years with women who were wearing some pretty fabulous furs. Both Melania and Ivanka have been photographed wearing beautiful fur garments but not, curiously, when he was president. Now I very much doubt that any of the Trump ladies would have given a damn about what PETA or the antis thought but it seemed odd that they appeared to leave fur out of their wardrobes whilst connected with the upper echelons of politics. Of course, the late Ivana was a permanent fixture at Denis Bassos’ shows and she had quite a few sable coats. I’ve always suspected that Donald is a bit of a fur enthusiast. I do wonder if there will be more fur on show this time around. (PLEASE don’t turn this into a thread about politics!) furs limited
It would be nice if a singular positive result from his presidency would be that fur returns to Washington and becomes more widely accepted. We can hope. It is heartening to see that younger people are "warming" to fur. Many of the compliments I receive when wearing fur are from young women and men. kev86
Yeah that great, I prefer see the wife of Trump wear her chinchilla, a fantastic coat... I think Trump love fur and love see her wife wear it... This is really nice to see young people appreciate fur and wear it for this season... LeComte
I guess fur is a No-Go for politicians and their wives. And I don't think only because of anti-fur-community, also because it's just too obvious signalling "rich upper class." These stereotypes are deeply burned in the minds of people unfortunately. kev86
I confirm this idea but we are fur lover and we don't have the same richness. This is so bad for the wife of Trump, much peoples are jealous and find this attitude really stupid. Edited December 11, 2024 by kev86
ChicagoFurFan
As a young political professional living in DC and from a solid blue city with, to, put it mildly, a disdain for the president-elect, one silver lining I’ve found is that lots of women in GOP circles, including wives and political staffers and Congresswomen themselves, wear A LOT of fur, and look great while doing so! hope that wasn’t too political, I respect everyone here’s views, but felt adding all that context beforehand would create more enticing narrative structure for this post!

Who are these congresswomen? I haven't seen pictures of any representative in fur in years, apart from occasional trims. That's not too political imo. kev86
Yeah, i confirm too, i don't see pictures of this congresswomen. I'm not sure she wear fur very often. I don't think the problem is the political part, maybe congresswomen don't have a big fur love... If you want talk about fur and politic, watch the show to "Notre-Dame" from Paris, the wife of Nigerian president wear a fabulous dark mink full length and full pelts, other wife of president of king wear a mink jacket with leather gloves... Politic and fur had a great compatibility. Edited December 16, 2024 by kev86

I’ve only seen Jasmine Crockett and Majorie Taylor Green 🤮 wear fur, but lots of staffers have fur trim, shearling, sheared mink, etc., and lots of political political wives at fundraisers. While fur is still sort of a no-go, especially on my side of the aisle, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make a comeback. It seems we may be undergoing an epochal shift similar to the 80’s in which extravagance becomes commonplace yet again
gai
Yeah I was really hoping for at least one brightside to his presidency would be to see furs, but unfortunately not. Especially since every woman he's been with has worn it, even Ivanka in her 20s, and she's so beautiful. From what I know about him, he just wants to exude success and extravagance rather than an actual interest in furs. And I would hope his whole anti-PC movement and not giving a damn would result in fur wearing.

There’s definitely been a minor but noticeable uptake in fur wearing, including in political spheres, but I wish it would happen in liberal/progressive circles. Obviously it’s a bit antithetical to our policy priorities (though, real fur is more sustainable so is it really anti-progressive??) but personally, I love the strong women that are active in Democratic Party circles and wish they’d wear fur to express their feminine strength more often
MAINLYMINK
Anyone remember the congressman's wife who posed for Playboy long ago, in nothing but her black mink coat? One pic of her sprawled across the back of her Mercedes sports car and another of her on a sofa -- very sexy pictures.

Oh man, you can’t just drop this bomb and not provide just a little more clues so we have enough to go down the Internet search scavenger hunt! Just thinking about this happening in the 80’s / 90’s (I’m assuming) is getting me all steamy 🙂
