FrBrGr Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 (edited) I' m back, and kickin' butt!!! Well . . . Not exactly kickin' butt, but one heck of alot better than I was acouple of weeks ago! First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for your concern, for your thoughts, and for your prayers. I have often said that we have a wonderful family here, and that has certainly been no more evident to me than in this last couple of weeks. Special thanks go to Linda, White Fox and AKCoyote who have kept in constant touch with me. They are really special people, my fellow fur freaks. In addition to being very special and dear friends, they are exemplary leaders in this community. Now then - a recap. On Sunday, November 12, I was rushed to the hospital with excruciating abdominal pain. My colon had ruptured. Early on the 13th, surgery was performed to repair the damage, but the biggest problem at that time was peretinitis (sp?) and the poison that had spread throughout my body. In spite of megadoses of antibiotics, my body didn't respond, and by that Friday I was near death. In fact, last rites were given. Miracles do happen, though, and in my case, God was blessing me. I started to respond to treatment, and by Monday, as "they" say, I was out of the woods. A week after my surgery, things started going the other way, and on Thanksgiving day, I was released from the hospital. I'm home now (finally with internet access!) and on my way to a full recovery - at least in "phase I." I will need two more surgeries, the first of which will be in a couple of months, then a final one a couple of months after that. THEN maybe everything will be back to "normal!" I will be on from time to time, and look forward to being back in touch with everyone. Once again, from the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you for you thoughts and prayers. There's no doubt in my mind that they were a part of this miracle! Warm, soft fur wishes to everyone! Edited December 11, 2006 by Guest

Guest Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Waht the hell were you doing to rupture your colon? Did you try to eat one of your furs or stuff it somewhere lol! Seriously, get well soon and its great to have you back. Take it easy now and lay off the fur action and try relaxing on them instead lol!
Worker 11811 Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I'm glad to see you back in action, FrBrGr! When I was a kid, I got appendicitis and it ruptured. Peritinitis set in and they had to do exploratory surgery to find the appendix and repair the damage. I was in the hospital for over two weeks and had to convalesce at home for, probably, another month. It was not fun! So, from my experience, I can imagine that you weren't having a very good time in the hospital. It's good to be out again. Isn't it? Keep on keepin' on! You'll be back to your old self in no time. (Except my scars are still visible almost 30 years later!)
sableman Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Hallelujah and WELCOME BACK!! I know you don't like all caps in a message but I think this calls for a special situation. I had been in contact with White Fox about you as I was very concerned. I am not a deeply religious person but I prayed for you everyday and continue to pray for your recovery. I did not know you were so close to death but thank God, it was not your time. What a terrible loss that would have been for all of us!! You are without a doubt one of the finest individuals I have met on the Internet and I am proud to call you my friend. I know many of the members here feel the same way about you. So take care my friend, and I wish for your continued recovery. Like all the members here, I cannot wait for your return on a full-time basis to this site. It was indeed a miracle that you survived, but oh so wonderful!! Your Fur Friend, Sableman P.S. Don't go out and eat any Mexican food now! (Just kidding, by the way.)
ScottInSeattle Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 For those that have been wondering where I slipped off to - I've been busy dealing with "Real Life" for the last little while. It's so good to have you back and recovering, old friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you. --S
Ravens8 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Welcome back FrBrGr. have a speedy recovery, and dont go rupturing any more bits of you, it's not good for the health you know!
Worker 11811 Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 When I was in the hospital as a kid people kept telling me that eating the unpopped "duds" from the bottom of a bag of popcorn is what causes appendicitis. So STOP EATING THOSE POPCORN KERNELS!
firstfur Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 All I can say, FrBrGr, is that now I know there REALLY IS a God!!! I had no idea you had been in that kind of danger, and am more relieved than words can say that you are back home and on the mend. I hope the fur blankets are out in force and keep you safe and cozy as you mend. I am so glad to see how much everyone missed you during your hellish time and how happy everyone is to have you back. Count me among the happiest, fur sure!! Firstfur
Worker 11811 Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I am not a deeply religious person but I prayed for you everyday and continue to pray for your recovery. In no way is this meant to be a put-down but this is an observation that was pointed out to me many years ago. I'd like to point it out here: Why is it that people will tell perfect strangers about their sexual exploits with a straight face, and nobody blinks an eye, yet if the same person says, "I prayed today.", they feel the need to apologize? I think there's an incongruity in our society. Somehow it's okay for us to post messages that tell the what world what we do with our wives and husbands and girlfriends and boyfriends but we feel shameful when we talk about what we did with God? (Or Allah, Yaweh, Elohim, Jehovah, Kami, Haile Selassie, Brahman, Krishna, Vishnu or any other name that you call Him.) So, here and now, I admit that I, too, pray for your continued health and recovery, FrBrGr!
