fursamurai
I was in the process of negotiations of this fabulous piece, when the owner backed out saying her daughter wanted the coat. Now I feel conflicted because I kind of want to be happy for the daughter to inherit the coat, but I also really wanted to add a beautiful long hair coat to my collection. Does anyone Have similar experiences
syfr
Good topic! I picked up a super long finn raccoon coat with massive collar, locally for a steal (a granddaughter was selling it on behalf of her grandma). I didn't get to enjoy it for too long before I traded it to a fellow fur-lover for a full-length golden island fox. The fox is a really nice coat, but I think I would have gotten more 'enjoyment' from keeping the finn raccoon. Oh well!
pnwhist
Mentioned this one in a previous thread (but will expand on my thoughts) Just like @syfr I picked this one locally for a steal - an immaculate (sincerely immaculate) spotted fox coat full-length, that in my opinion looked absolutely visually gorgeous and no blemishes in the fur nor lining. The seller was practically giving it away, under $200 as he was selling off the possessions of a dear relative/friend that had recently passed. I am pretty much straight male but the few times I did wear it, I felt absolutely feminine and beautiful wearing it, admiring myself in the mirror and felt no weirdness that I had those feelings - I guess I got a sense of that magic that women feel when they slide themselves into the cocoon of a coat of such beauty. The down side is that it was definitely the roughest of the foxes in my possession - already having felt the heavenly softness of Blue fox as well as Crystal Fox. And at the time, I hadn’t felt Coyote yet. So when it came to making closet space, how it felt won out over how it looked. Alas, I ended up selling it to a seller who ended up flipping it on eBay (the stories people come up with to convince you that they’re really keeping it for themselves. …I’m sure many/most of us have concocted a fabrication or two.) So yes, it’s the one that got away, but not before I was able to capture the photos from her listing. The saving grace is that my wife would have never worn it saying it looked too “Cruella.” Darn darn darn. Thats the one that got away and I’m sticking to it. LOL
Chrisfurlover
So this one was just one of those situations that prove “go with your gut.” I had this listing saved on Facebook marketplace for weeks and eventually I just said “what’s the worst thing that they can do, say no?” and sent a message to the seller asking for measurements and additional photos. The seller listed this as a “red fox coat” but upon further investigation I was able to determine this was actually a golden isle fox fur coat. I shot an offer a couple days later and the seller told me that if I was a couple hours earlier that she would have sold it to me. I offered $375 when they had it listed for $425. The person they sold it to lived closer but ended up with a steal of a lifetime only buying it for $325… always go with your gut.

furs limited
Chrisfl - that's a tough one. Sometimes waiting is prudent, too many times it leads to regrets of varying degrees. I have passed on some beautiful furs [a long chinchilla wrap, a crossfox throw, a rex rabbit bedspread, ... ! ], but the search goes on.
