Tom1698431614
I own two. A short one and a longer, medium one. I usually wear them for shopping or theatre etc. even when it is not very cold. The interesting thing is that most people don‘t recognize these garments as real fur.

Charfur
I have a medium length chinchilla. but basically not wearing it anymore. Just got a new sable :), which has my preference. Although I find chinchilla much softer and much more glamorous I keep ripping it, since it is very fragile. When I wear the sable I seem to get more compliments but most people do not even recognize what either chinchilla or sable is, only on very rare moments people are recognizing it and are mostly surprised, especially with the chinchilla. But I must admit, chinchilla is really warm and comfortable to wear and pretty lightweight. Maybe, depending on the budget, I will have this one remodeled for something shorter so won't tear so easy.
LeComte
One day I went out with my long lynx coat and two teenagers (both not over-sophiscated with a decent inclination for rap music, let's put it this way) commented with "wow, a chinchilla!" It seems at least the name is known. So for now a real chinchilla is on my bucket list but not in my wardrobe.
