FurSwede Posted February 11 Posted February 11 It was fun to read about Snow Days in Banff here on the forum. Something one may have to attend in the future. This year though I am going to Alaska for skiing and to attend the 90th Fur Rondy in Anchorage. This will be my second time at the Rondy and I will of course be wearing fur! Full length coyote fur coat with matching hat, mitts and boots. 6 1
ChicagoFurFan Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I have never heard of this before — thank God for this forum, now I have reason #100 to visit beautiful Alaska! One day, we should do a forum meetup at the Rondy perhaps? 1

One day, we should do a forum meetup at the Rondy perhaps? Do a Forum Search and you’ll see Rondy mentioned in a few threads as well as a YouTube Search for the parade. For awhile, it was an event we were highly anticipating here to see what furs were going to be out and about! Edited February 13 by pnwhist 4 1
FurSwede Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 First day at Rondy was a bit quiet. I watched the dogsled race from the starting line and shopped at Alaska Fur Gallery. 1
pnwhist Posted February 23 Posted February 23 This is the Parade from last year… usually you’ll see the fur showings in clusters. I haven’t done any timestamp fur markers so peruse at your leisure.
FurSwede Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 FYI I am here in person and watched the parade with several locals also wearing furs. And I was here for the 2018 Rondy as well. 1

I know that there was one year when there was absolutely zero snow on the ground from evidence of the parade and very few fur showings to coincide. 1
FurSwede Posted February 24 Author Posted February 24 (edited) There were a few very nice furs. It is interesting how us with nice furs tend to gravitate together. Of course the mild weather and lack of snow downtown had an impact on the amounts of furs. Edited February 24 by FurSwede 2
FurSwede Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 I am now back in NYC after a week in Alaska (weekend in Anchorage). It sure is a different vibe. Hopefully it will be cold enough some days for me to wear the full length coyote here. If not, I still have my full length blackglama mink and my chinchilla with me.
pnwhist Posted February 27 Posted February 27 And here’s the longest video of the parade I found on YouTube:
Fox Posted February 27 Posted February 27 It's surprisingly dry there. Even some of the young people in the video were just wearing hoodies. 🫤
FurSwede Posted February 27 Author Posted February 27 Yes it wasn’t cold so only a few people were wearing fur. Quite different from 2018 when I was there the first time. 1
