In the left bottom corner, it says, "Alaska Lynx Coat".   The fur is bobcat and bobcats do not live in Alaska.  It would have been more accurate to describe this coat as "Lynx Cat Coat", "Cat Lynx Coat", "Western Lynx Cat Coat", or "Western Cat Lynx Coat".  The pelts are very high quality and are from western North America.

Dude I understand you are passionate about these furs but this is getting a little bit extreme on your part, don’t you think? This is a 40 year old ad from the looks of things. At a certain point don’t you think you can leave ancient history behind? Especially for minor infractions like this?

I may have that add that I got when it came out in the 80's. It was either in Vogue or a multi page fur add.

Yeah it seems really out of left field for someone to cry foul over something like this and expect to get anything out of it in return. It’s not like Vogue is going to print a retraction over an ad campaign they used to work with, which in all fairness, occurred at a period when most of the current editorial staff were most likely ever born. And lest we forget, Grossenvor furs closed the books on their business and holdings nearly two decades ago.

Like I said it’s ancient history that has no business being relitigated. There is virtue in letting the dust settle on things sometimes. Especially teeny tiny little bits of misinformation like this.

And the current generation of fur wearers don’t care about this ad or any other fur ad.. By and large the people walking into boutiques and buying fur coats are window shoppers with money who know fur is trendy and elegant. They don’t care about the ads. They don’t do research. They care about the clout. Unless you’re city’s history is built on the backs of the fur trade and has strong communal ties to it’s culture and traditions, you are probably not of the sort who pays attention to what you are buying and where it was harvested. It’s just a nice coat that is in your budget and you get to put it on your credit card and take it home “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ “
