Furman54 Posted Tuesday at 10:36 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:36 AM Do the furriers and fur workers get first pick on their furs or when new ones come into shops? Saw a viral furrier online who quoted that she gets hers first as the shops advertiser. Just wondering? 🤔
Panther10 Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM Posted yesterday at 12:23 AM (edited) Furriers usually purchase their skins at auction if they are buying wholesale through Saga Furs in Copenhagen or the North American Fur Trade Association in Canada. There are also some fur house now in China and Russia that are very active now but the quality is terrible. If they are buying a design or pattern that has already been made from a well known label or fashion designer and was showcased at a fashion show, then that store will certainly carry coats from that brand label as long as their contract that brand is still active. However there aren’t a ton of brand name fashion designers that tend to work with fur these days and the smaller boutiques and furriers tend to do most of the labor themselves now. Copenhagen Fur Center ended its marketing alliance with Saga Furs several years ago. CFC is and always was mink. Saga Furs (most fox and finn-raccoon) auctions are/were held in Finland.
