HELP---Fur ID please!

Found this listing and the seller doesn't know what fur type it is... It's not hideous, so I'm wondering what the experts think... I'm well over my 2025 fur coat budget already this year (🤦‍♂️), so I'm hoping it might be a quick flip to get back in the game:

I have a guess (🤞), but don't want to influence the panel... haha

Well, this is kinda a tough one. I would ask the seller how it feels, if it’s coarse or if it’s a softer feeling. Is it super heavy or lighter weight? My guess would be stone Marten or some type of beaver.

If they are able, you can always suggest taking it to a local furrier and having them determine the type of fur. They will usually do this service for free.

I'd also ask for the touch. Best give them some options like "on the scale of silky/very soft/soft/coarse/very coarse."

My first guess was "something like sable", so stone marten is a good guess. I don't think it's beaver, guard hairs look too long. Same is true for mink (makes up the bulk of existing furs). The touch-test will give you an answer, beaver (unsheared) being rather coarse, marten very soft, mink soft.

Furriers always know better, yet the seller needs to live nearby one. And be willing to go there. But it's definitely worth a try.
