furlvman1 Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Well the tarrifs on that ain't gonna be fun. If you take time and look at Poshmark or Etsy, you can get much nicer lynx for half the cost. Likely no tarrifs on Poshmark if in the US. Mercari is another decent market, but some of their fur prices are high.
Ballula Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 But these Eurasian lynx coats from royalfurs are made from new pelts and have never been worn before. The coats on Etsy and Poshmark are most likely pre-owned.
furlvman1 Posted Sunday at 07:57 AM Posted Sunday at 07:57 AM The Etsy coats are mostly new, still, all have more of the the desired spots and will hold a better value over time. Like a luxury car, the first time you drive or wear a new coat, it's value generally drops a good bit.

Like a luxury car, the first time you drive or wear a new coat, it's value generally drops a good bit. I'll take a look on Etsy but there is a difference between bobcat fur and Eurasian lynx fur. The latter is much, much rarer and often times not spotted at all. In fact, the Eurasian lynx that have spots on the back often have not the thickest, not the longest fur. According to Wikipedia, the lynx that live at the southern end of the species' range have more numerous spots. Bobcat has tremendous variability in fur color and spot pattern, with some not having any spots on the back. With bobcat, the spots that really matter are on the belly. Presence or absence of spots on the back don't really affect the price of either bobcat or Eurasian lynx. It's more the color (for both, the paler the color, the more valuable) and the thickness/length of the fur. I suspect a lot of those Etsy coats that are listed as lynx are actually bobcat but I will definitely take a look.

He is not in Lithuania.
furlvman1 Posted Thursday at 09:05 AM Posted Thursday at 09:05 AM Not too many Americans are going to buy from Russia, if it's even possible. Before the war, I bought several Chinchilla pieces from a furrier in Moscow, but since the war started, my answer is no, even if legal. Now I have bought a fur lined coat from Ukraine and fur from Lithuania and Poland, however due to health and the American economy, I am severely cutting back any major fur purchases, I have enough, and have sold or donated several furs to various organizations. I grew up with a family friends that were furriers, and when they closed their business as the grew old, I inherited their fur machine and cleaner, which I have since sold. have gone trapping as a kid for coyote and bobcat. So I do have a bit of experience with fur. I've been very lucky and wish others the same. Let fur be a positive whatever your status is, simply enjoy. 1
arctic-store Posted Thursday at 11:15 AM Posted Thursday at 11:15 AM Just sharing a little smile - Refusing to buy from Russia and then picking Russian fur labeled elsewhere is like skipping Easter eggs and settling for colorful pebbles. The spirit might be close, but the feeling — never quite the same. 😉 Fur has its own language — and the real one always speaks for itself. Here’s a glimpse of true Eurasian lynx craftsmanship, straight from my own workshop. 3
