As has been mentioned a couple of times we are beginning a Hall of Fame here. This is just the sort of thing that we are able to do in our Library so well.

Now then, you will notice that is is very lacking in names at the moment. We would like you as members to nominate people who you think should be in there.

 

1. People from this site.

2. People from other internet sites.

3. People who have contributed to the fur industry but are not associated generally with the internet. J Lo maybe?

 

Please think about this and nominate the people who you think should be named there. The staff here have not at this time named very many people as we think that job should be up to you. We might add one or two by times, but we want this to be your area.

 

Please just give any mod a quick pm as to who you think should be nominated to go to that area. I guess that you can also make replies in this thread as well if you wish.

P.S. We also have a new time line on furs coming as well. It will be awhile yet, but it will be here folks and we will be asking for you input to that as well at that time. Please watch for it in a few weeks.

So seriously; I can't nominate just women who have worn fur a lot or made a statement about it. It should be more.

To start with I nominate the following celebrities for the Hall of Fame:

Cybill Shepard

Liza Minelli

Barbra Streisand (I know from reading several bios on her that fur was a huge part of her life in the 60's and 70's, not too sure on status today though.)

I would like to nominate 2 people to the Hall of Fame.

 

1. Mad Man Fox. He founded and runs "The Fox Files". This site has become a classic in fur fashion. This year it will celebrate its tenth year on the internet. He has always posted high quality fur fashion pictures. His pictures go back to the 1970 and 1980 era. Many of of us are familiar with the faces, if not the names, of the models showing furs of this era. His site has helped us put a name to the face.

 

2. Mr. C 1946. Mr. C has recently posted a large number of fur pictures, both in the gallery and at Fur Picture Posting. These pictures are from the 1960 and early 1970 era. They feature some of the models of the era modeling furs. Most of use are not familiar with the names of Suzy Parker, Wihelima, Nena von Schebregge, Dorothy McGowan and other models wearing the fashionable furs of the times. He has added some of the past to the world of fur.

 

Both of these people have significantly contributed to maintaining the history of fur fashions and we should recognize their achievements by placing them into our Hall of Fame.

I would like to nominate Frank NTC. His NTC web fur pictures collection was one of the very first fur dedicated websites on the net. For me, and I think for many others, his website was the first encounter with the fact that 'we're not alone'. It is a pity that ntc web has changed into another common sex and fetish site, but that doesn't change the fact that over fifteen years ago Frank was one of the first if not THE first.

 

Furthermore I would lke to suggest seperate categories for fur bearers, fur dealers and those who put a lot of time and effort in keeping alive sites like this, the fox files, michaels soft spot and many more.

Great mention, Leo! How can we forget Frank (and Cosmo) from the old NTC. That was the first fur fetish website I found when I entered the online world in 1996. I think they are a must for inclusion!

There was a good suggestion here that was rather "Hidden". That is that we have other categories.

 

Please let me know as well which categories that you would like included. Just remember of course that this is a "Hall of Fame" area and not a "Favorites" area when you pick the categories. In general I see a Hall of Fame as people who contributed to this site, other similar sites on the net, or the fur business in general. As versus a "Favorites" area which is a place where you like to go.

 

You mentioned a "Fur Bearers" section. I am not sure what you mean there. Could you elaborate a bit.

Also you mentioned "Fur Dealers". Are you meaning people who sell furs? We might for instance include people who began and perfected selling furs on the net. However, in the case of furriers in general we need to remember to keep this a "Hall of Fame" and not a "Favorites" area.

I am not knocking out your idea here. It is just that I would like to see more so I understand it better. Indeed I think that you are really on the right track. I am just not following you completely.

Yes, come to think of it my nominations would need to be placed in a furbearers section...and btw I think that is DEFINITELY what it should be called...as they have not contributed to our site except perhaps through inspiration. But hey, that is important too at times eh?

Could you folk explain "Fur Bearers"? Most people here think of that as Fox or Mink, etc. Actual animals that are called Fur Bearers. I think that name would be a bit confusing.

With "fur bearers" I meant celebrities who wear fur out of conviction, who really like to present themselves in fur, defying the likes of PETA. I am thinking about for example J Lo and Joan Collins. It should definitely not become a list of celebs who occasionally are seen wearing furs. (English is not my native language).

 

When I mentioned fur dealers I, erm, had Linda in mind...

 

To keep the list exclusive one might consider a system of candidates and an election once a year or once a month.

On the web, Mikhail (Mikhail's Soft Spot) definitely needs to be there, and so do Mr and Ms Barguzin. They started their forum on Delphiforums even before the original Fur Den. I, for one, miss Ms Barguzin, who was a favorite on the old Fur Den and on Melody for many years before she left the fur community. Even though she and Mr Barguzin were together (and we all remember her memorable contribution as co-author of "The Sweet Seduction," a fur story that still gets many reads years after it made its debut) she deserves her own place in the Hall.

Steady on furelli a bit a blah blah blah has made this place much more than just a fetish site.....many of the old ones were good but also were limited in appeal.

This is a place that has and will attract more people and still has the links and pics.

It has and will continue to be used as a forum to cordinate resistance to the AR movemment, and also helped many members of the community in lots of different ways. We have fashion people and even people involved in conservation here too which is important to take fur forward into the 21st century and hopefully make it desirable and ethical as a choice making it mainstream again. They are NOT strictly fetishists.

Oh, my God, YES! (What's wrong with me?? That was the first site I should have recommended!! Too many meds these days, I guess . . . ) It was, indeed, The Fur Club. Started by Mink Man. To my knowledge, The Fur Club was the first internet fur community and founded by one of the most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Mink Man was the first person with whom I ever shared my fur fetish, and the first person who ever said to me, "Hey, friend - It is OK to feel the way you do about fur!" That site and that man are the ones I refer to in my Fur Den welcome!

 

Absitively, posilutely - The Fur Club should be on our Hall of Fame's pedestal!

The same furelli who picked up his toys and went whining back home to mommy 'cause he couldn't get his way? Hey furelli - You're a day late and a dollar short (as usual)! Frank, Cosmo and Mikhail have already been nominated, but it was done with class. You quit the Den, remember? So why don't you just stay home and play by yourself - or with yourself - looking at your x-rated sites . . . ? Or here's another suggestion. Develop your own site, and make it just like NTC. Build your own site on your own server ('cause no host I know of will allow you to have your way with pornography . . .) Uh . . . What's that? You say you don't have the money to do that? The know-how? The persistence? The dedication? And all those other things that are required to build a decent website? Yeah - Just as I thought . . . Blah, blah, blah, blah . . . BLAH!
