Worker 11811 Posted January 14, 2008 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Just guessing: Extreme temperature changes for prolonged periods cause furs to absorb or lose moisture. When pelts go through several freeze-thaw cycles they probably become brittle and lose their fur. Thus the electric heaters may have been used, not to keep the fur warm but to prevent freezing and thawing.
