Attempted Robbery of a Detroit Furrier

Either the witnesses in this latest heist have extraordinarily selective memories, or else the reporter's editor was asleep at his copy desk last night!?!

why, were the robbers captured?

they allegedly got four coats. those stupid people! the garments are "hot" now

i bought eight amazing garments on ebay for less than 9% of the value that the article gives the stolen furs...and i didn't have to bust in anywhere, threaten anyone or get written about in the paper. among my acquisitions were chinchilla, mink, beaver, rex rabbit, and blue, golden, blush and pure-white fox. a steal, if i do say so myself.

i love hearing about stupid criminals.

If you wanted the public's assistance in identifying and locating anonymous suspects to a crime, would it not help a great deal to inform the reading public, through such a news article, as to whether the suspects that the public was to be on the lookout for appeared to be white, black, Hispanic, Asian, or whatever else, rather than merely giving ludicrously exact descriptions of their reported ages, heights and weights? Do you really believe that the victims and other witnesses did not give such reports to the police, and that the reporter and his editor(s) had not known exactly what they were leaving out of their news story for the sake of political correctness, despite the potential further threat to public safety represented by those three felons?

you have a point there. now that i think about it, i believe the paper can't print their racial descriptions anymore or face lawsuits. racial descriptions of people who commit crimes and get away, historically, are rarely "caucasian"...and eyewitness reports of perpetrators are not always accurate. so when given a choice between helping the furrier get back an alleged $40,000 in coats, or face a lawsuit costing the paper that much or more in legal fees, i'm sure they would only do what's required and not much else.

also...regardless of journalistic integrity, most people i know who work in the print media are anti-fur. they view furriers as dinosaurs or relics of an antique society...not all members of the media, mind you, and it does depend on the geographic location. however, the chicago media would be much less sympathetic to the fur industry than, say, the anchorage media. even the philly media reacts semi-mockingly to anything fur-related except when the fur is worn by members of the eagles, patti labelle, or howard eskin.

Interesting ... I did not know that. I found the description of the (alleged) thieves rather vague as well.
