Zaphod_bee
Hello All, not long ago I started a thread regarding my new project: A fur Overall ! The original thread seems to be cutted off somehow by the rebuilt last month, so I´m starting a new thread. My first project was a black sheared nutria pullover with a detachable hood. This now almost 5 year old Pullover (of which I will post photos in the Gallery soon) was my coming out in the public, since it was clearly meant to be weared there. Although all my friends did not get a chance to see it up to now, since my wife disclaims it, I wear it once in a while in winter. After this successful fur project, my second one was a specialised combination which I will discuss in detail when I will get access to the fetish forum (by the way, is there a hidden fetish gallery not open to all public ?? I will definately NOT post offending photos, but I think the design of several fur-thingies might somehow be offending even without bare flesh Since this combination mentioned above with fur in and out is much too warm most of the time I´m currently planning for a fur overall. This will be with dark red rex rabbit and will be fur on one side, nappa (specially treated leather to be mostly water resistant) on the other. My plan is to wear it either below the normal clothing in public or fully apparent in privacy. Of course it will be completed with some additions ... What do you think ? ; do you have good ideas for the project especially for not to be too warm ? And: do you also have projects like these ? I am curious to hear from you all -------------------- Zaphod_bee
Worker 11811
Zaphod; Show me what post you refer to that got "cut off". If there is a technical problem with the database I will look to see if I can restore it. I like to hear about people making their own custom fur garments. Especially because there aren't enough practical designs for men. Most are designed for women. Men are left to their own devices if they want fur garments. It's good to see you filling that gap! White Fox
Worker... Just do a post search for the member's posts and you will instantly find it. AK was going to have a look but has been busy. Not sure what happened with it but the text is totally gone for some reason. W EDIT by AK: I am still working on the problem. There might have been a hidden problem reloading the database during the rebuild. Unfortunately the way the database backups are formated reduces the file size, but makes finding a single entry very very slow and tedious. Zaphod_bee
Now that my first upload ever is completed, you can see my sheared Nutria Pullover in black: Nutriapullover_1.JPG Nutriapullover_2.JPG Nutriapullover_3.JPG Nutriapullover_4.JPG Nutriapullover_5.JPG Nutriapullover_6.JPG It was a self-made design and has been built to the real pullover in 2000´ Any comments are welcome as well as discussion about designs you did Greetings Zaphod_bee Edit: Worker 11811 - Added clickable links. JGalanos
Nice pullover -- I will have to consider a more casual design the next time I create a custom fur.
Zaphod_bee
Hello again to all I did not get too many thoughts about my current project Nevertheless, seeing all the pictures and discussions currently going on here (brandy: you are really bringing joy to the world) I decided that my Rex Rabbit combination can be openly discussed as well as been seen in the gallery. Please excuse the ugly letters in the pictures, but I don´t want my combination end up in somebody else´s location or design ... What do you think about the double-sided o-so-soft rex rabbit combination ?? And again: any thoughts about my upcoming project of a single-sided rex rabbit overall ?? Love to hear from you all Zaphod_bee PS: the pictures go with names: REX_Rabbit_Combi_1.JPG REX_Rabbit_Combi_2.JPG Edit: Worker 11811 - Added clickable links. ReFur
I think the design is wonderful!! For someone wanting to be covered head-to-foot, you did it with a lot of style. Linda
cbernard92
umm I was only able to see the rabbit combos (Fabulous by the way) but I couldn't see the nutria thing. You are lucky!!!
Worker 11811
I added clickable links to Zaphod's messages above. You should be able to see his pictures now.
Guest
Coincidental that I'm planning a short day trip this weekend to Mt. Rainier for photographing my furs. Hope to have a few posted in The Gallery soon. No red or watermarks. OFF
Zaphod_bee
OK, OK I got that point from alll of you: You don´t want any "watermarks" in the pictures. Can you convince me that they are not needed ?? I´m afraid that "my" photos will be lurking around the whole internet after I put them on the gallery - and after all the design and idea is mine ... ReFur
Zaphod_bee, I am sure all designers struggle with this issue. Ultimately you have decided which is more important to you, others seeing the design or protecting the use of the picture. I do believe anyone could copy your design from the photos you have watermarked. So, I guess I am confused on why it would bother you if others use your picture. That seems to me to be a compliment. Guest
Zaphod_bee; Several points. I've spent a bit of money and an enormous amount of time on scanning and fixing pictures for The Gallery without a single identifying mark HOPING they will be taken and enjoyed by others. I've already seen evidence of this already and more to come. Others members have shown their furs here and in The Gallery without concerns of 'theft' with the intention of sharing their ideas and taking pride in their furs. That's what we do here. Keeping others from taking your stuff on the open Internet is a futile effort and here it is counter productive as you probably have seen now. Worker 11811
Zaphod; There are other ways to watermark. You could use transparent letters that don't block too much of the image underneath but are still prominent and readable. You can also use invisible watermarking techniques. But the best way, in my opinion, is to use "Jujitsu". Don't try to stop people from stealing the picture but put your name in there somehow so that if/when people steal your picture they will see your name, prominently in the background. Try making a background using a piece of craft paper or a white sheet that has the words "Fur Designs by Zaphod" printed on it. If you have a special e-mail address that potential customers or new friends to contact you with, go ahead and add that in there. Now, people who steal pictures will only spread free advertisement for you and your business! Just one more thing: I am not at liberty to talk about methods but the Fur Den's picture server is about as secure as we can make it without making it too difficult for our members to see the pictures. It is not impossible to steal pictures from the Fur Den. It is always possible to sneak around these kinds of security measures but we make it as difficult as we can. I've got some other ideas for you, in terms of watermarks, but I don't have time. Give me a little while and I think I can help you out. I'll give you a PM when I can. Zaphod_bee
This was exactly what I needed to be convinced, OFF, Linda and Worker: I will post the original pictures in a minute or so. Therfor worker can put his effort on more important things. I take it as stated above - if the design will be copied or the pictures will lurk around I will take it as a compiment !! I would really like to hear comments on the design (furcoatman can see it then ) as well as ideas about the upcoming overall. Thank you worker for your help so far - maybe you could add the method to get the pictures as links in a sticky - the information I got out of the current one didn´t take me to this ... Maybe you can even delete the watermarked pictures since there will be better ones in a minute ... This thread really showed me that it is discussion and communication what it´s all about. Hope to hear from you again soon Zaphod_bee
Guest
Zapod_bee; I like the design very much. It must feel very nice indeed. It's the stuff of fantasy that we all love. The folks who dress up like different animals should make their suites so well and from real fur. Imagine one made with full pelt Lynx with an alaska Fur Seal lining OFF
cbernard92
the nutria pull over was really nice, I'm jealous, but then we got to the full suit..... and I was blown away, you are soooooo lucky to have such a nice fur suit. Good design, great furs, and looks like it would be really nice to step into. One day I hope I can afford to make my own fur dreams come true as you have. cbernard
foxkid
Imagine one made with full pelt Lynx with an alaska Fur Seal lining Based on the fact I sometimes sleep under my lynx blanket and an Alaska fur seal blanket (this is somewhat used now though, as it was from re worked coats and has had a few years use), I can most whole heartedly agree! furcoatman
first THANK YOU! i think that is really cool and would love an outfit like it myself. did you make it yourself or have someone make it for you? do not worry about people stealing your pics. they need to be shared. just know that lots of people lose control of their pics. i lost ccontrol of all the videos that i posted through h4ckj4ck years ago, but more people have enjoyed them than i could have ever reached myself. i know get a charge out of seeing stuff that came from me. how much can you have that outfit made for me? i would order it through you if possible. just let me know. thanks again for sharing! Worker 11811
Zaphod; This just occurred to me. Do you have the patterns that suit was made from? If so, you might want to explore the idea of selling copies. If you don't that's fine. I just thought you could make a little money on the side. You probably won't get rich but you might be able to make enough to subsidize the creation of new fursuits for yourself.
Zaphod_bee
Unfortunately the furrier I made the combination with is out of business. The dress was made completely without any patterns - it was the first time for the furrier to actually make pants out of fur. As for the design: the coat has zip-off sleeves, so that in warmer times it can be worn as a vest-shorts combination ... The flap in the short is attached with magnetic buttons so that the hair is not ruined when attaching the flap. The combination is actually not completed, since the furrier ended his work abruptly. (and taking the rest of the fur with him ...) Originally I wanted a full mask going with the design - with detachable eye and mouth flaps. Linda already described it best: I wanted something totally engulfing me in fur - double sided so that everything touched can only be soft and nice. But the whole thing can now be worn in arctic winter which is not quite often here in Europe Therfor I´m now heading to a bit "colder" design with single-sided fur finished to be water-resistant on the leather-side : my upcoming fur overall. Are there any hints for the overall ?? Thank you for all your words and thoughts so far - after all i´m a silent reader from almost the beginning on who is now accelerating Zaphod_bee
Worker 11811
...after all i´m a silent reader from almost the beginning... I don't mind lurkers, myself, but there are sites that will deactivate and even erase users who don't post. I never liked that idea, nor do any of the other Mods. or Admins. We think that people should be allowed to just read if they want. Not everybody likes to post and socialize on-line. That's okay with us. On the other side of the coin, it's more fun when others join in. Sometimes we wonder if people only lurk and don't post messages because the website isn't to their liking. We often ask ourselves if there is anything we can do so that more people will feel comfortable enough to make a post. I do not mind receiving messages from members who ask for things they think would make the site better or more comfortable for them. We can not use every suggestion that is asked but we are certainly open to ideas. There is a saying: "The best way to guarantee that you do not get what you want is to never ask for it!" Sometimes we must say, "No", to a suggestion that will not work but we still learn what people like when they ask. We don't expect every member to post all of the time. We will not delete memberships who don't post unless it becomes absolutely necessary for the maintenance of the system. But, even if members do not post frequently, we like to hear from them at least occasionally.
foxkid
Zaphod; This just occurred to me. Do you have the patterns that suit was made from? If so, you might want to explore the idea of selling copies. I totally agree, the designs he's had are far better than the stupid mens 'clown' designs that seem to hit catwalks, such as http://www.sagafurs.com/index.php?id=13&g2_itemId=22640 (for example). I think mens furs are over run with either overly dated looking designs, or things that look stupid. Designers really need to look at making ore trendy items like the stuff Zaphod has done (the nutria hoddie is a practical, yet trendy thing to wear out). I'm sure it would be very profitable. You only need to look at Juicy to see how popular the rabbit lined hoodies are (despite them being rather cheap fur). I'm most certain there is a good men's fur market to be made, just that designers need to realise this.
Zaphod_bee
Well, thank you for your compliment so far foxkid! In fact at the time the sheared nutria was built, there was no trend of the lined hoodies; perhaps at that time I even would have bought such a thing instead of breaking my own head with designing The nutria is really meant to be a design for a day-to-day wear; at that time iIwas not confident enough to wear a "conspicious" design openly (what is unfortunately still true right not now). After all there are not so many places where it is usual to have mens furs (I live in middle Europe ....) - at least in my "level of community" (<- not sure wheather it´s the appropriate english expression ...) Thats why there is so much differnece betweeen my private furs and my nutria pullover. This is also the unfortunately the only fur I wear openly. Does anybody have such a fur lined hoodie ?? How is it and how much did it cost ?? Is it worth to go for such a thing ?? Zaphod_bee Edit: Maybe we can hand over to all our furrier members for questioning them about such "normal" designs ?? (... and as well for the "totally-engulf-in-fur-thing" ) Edited March 9, 2008 by Guest
