icepilot
Hi all I had plans to go to "Fur Rondy" in Anchorage, AK a couple weeks ago but we had to cnacel at the last minute. Did any body get to go? How was it?
AKcoyote
I live in Anchorage, but because I was working I am not the best source of information. Attendance at many of the events was up this year. The one new event was the "Running of the Reindeer" (think of the Spanish running of the bulls, but with reindeer). Fortunately there was enough snow for the "World Championship Open Sled Dog Race" - a 3 day sprint mushing event. The ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on March 1st was very well attended as always by both locals and tourists. As it was cool and breezy that Saturday, there were fur wearers among the crowd. Because I was stuck inside and rather busy, I did not have an opportunity to see much, so am unable to provide a better report.

JGalanos
I've seen some interesting photos over the years. I've thought about going myself. Fur sightseeing opportunities ... Finally visiting the 49th state ... Maybe one of these days.

bobdunlap
We lived in Anchorage for 20 years, leaving for Northern Idaho in 1995 and retirement. The Anchorage Daily News has a web site that covers the Rondy all year long. Things have changed over the years (no snow), but it is a great adventure. Try to attend. Sorry if this went out with "1965" it should have been 1995.
