brandy-uk
Well our wonderful country has done it again... A while ago some guy killed a girl and the police found that his computer was full of images of violence and porn. (I obviously feel for the grieving family) The dead girls mother started a campaign and now the Uk is about to pass a law that makes any pornographic image that is connected to violence illegal. The crazy thing about this is that the wording is very vague...so that it can be pulled in all directions. It is illegal to have the images on your computer ad so...if anyone has any images of themselves being forced or in danger and it has an erotic edge to it.. suddenly it is illegal. This covers all from hard core pornographic images of women being beaten or tortured (these images I am happy to have made illegal)..to images of husbands and wives tie-ing each other up for fun and home pleasure... if the photo has any feeling of physical harm including restraint which passes as unlawful inprisonment... This has obviously a huge effect on the BDSM world as most of their pleasure.. comes from a little pain.. What a law.... and so open to miss-use by the lawyers etc etc.. where do we go next.. kisses brandy xxxxx
Unclejoe420
Where do we go? Round to the person who thought this law was a bright idea... Just my humble opinion, of coruse.. UJ
Worker 11811
In California, it is illegal to smoke in public places. In California, it is illegal to sell french fries cooked in fat. In California, it is illegal to sell a hot dog wrapped in bacon. In California, it is illegal to tie your dog outside on a chain for more than 8 hours a day. There are hundreds and hundreds of silly laws like this being enacted all over the country. And, as Brandy says, laws are being enacted all over the WORLD! It's stupidity! Just plain stupidity! This isn't a political issue. This isn't about Democrats or Republicans, nor is it about the Labour Party or the Conservative party. Frankly, I don't want to talk about political issues in this context because they never go well and people will just end up in a stupid argument and we'll have to shut down this thread. I don't want to do that. This is a growing social issue. For some stupid reason, people are beginning to think that the government's job is to fulfill their every whim and protect them from every imagined source of pain and evil that they can dream up. Guns are coming closer to being outlawed in the US every day. Every few years, there is a movement to outlaw flag burning. And people are willing to manipulate the Constitution to do it! This is entirely too weird in my mind because we ALREADY have lots of laws on the books that deal with just such issues! Did you know that Title 36 of the US code already specifies how the American flag is to be treated, how it is to be displayed and what is not allowed? Did you know this is Federal law? What about the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms? Everybody has heard all kinds of stories about how the BATF uses a heavy hand to regulate firearms in this country. You can get into SERIOUS trouble if you mess around with guns in the US! And, if all the laws that are already on the books would be enforced, you they could put you in jail and throw away the key for even the most minor infractions! But, for some reason, people are willing to welcome more and more government regulation into thier lives and even WELCOME it, all for some vague promise of "safety" and "security". More people die in auto accidents every year than are killed or injured by guns... TEN TIMES more people! (This includes law enforcement officers using their weapons in the line of duty!) We have all kinds of laws on the books to regulate the use of automobiles but they don't stop people from getting killed by cars! More people die due to electrical fires in their homes than they do because they eat the wrong foods. We have all kinds of crazy electrical codes and laws governing the use of electricity in our homes and workplaces but that doesn't stop people from getting killed by electricity and electrical fires either! This isn't about guns or automobile safety or smoking or fast food or pornography. This is a SOCIAL problem. This is about the growing trend for people to accept less and less risk in their lives and their growing unwillingness to look out for themselves. They are asking government to do all sorts of things to "protect" them from these evils when it's NOT GOEVERNMENT'S JOB to do them! Government's job is to regulate commerce, provide for the common defense, and to manage the country's infrastructure. It is NOT to regulate behavior. It is NOT to protect people from imagined demons hiding behind every rock and tree! This is not going to stop unless and until people wise up and realize that. Unless and until a whole bunch of people like us stand up and start saying this, loud and clear, the trend is going to keep getting worse. Some day, we're all going to be required to wear government approved padded space suits and respirators every time we walk outside our government approved, hermetically sealed houses if we don't bring this to a halt! FrBrGr
You are correct, Worker, in assessing that this is not a political issue, i.e., it's not about labels or sides. It's about losing our liberty. Our freedom. It stems from this reliance on the government that more and more people are beginning to develop. The more it does for them, the more complacent they become. The more complacent they become, the more they fall into apathy. The more apathetic they get, the greater the danger for every facet of their lives and everyone else's life to be controlled by that same government that said, in effect, "Trust us to decide what is best for you." What is best, just might not be best. Then, all of a sudden, it's too late to do anything about it. Brandy, please be careful with "The Black Fox." We would certainly hate to see you get caught up in a witch hunt!
Worker 11811
According to the records I can see on my computer, Brandy's site is served from the U.S. Assuming that's true, her site should be beyond the reach of British authorities. Which brings up another question... How the hell do they expect to enforce this new law? Censor the entire internet?!
AKcoyote
There have been stupid laws enacted as long as we have had government and politicians. If you dig deep enough, you will find dozens of stupid and/or outdated laws still on the books that were enacted as far back as the 1700's. ReFur
Brandy, you would love to talk with MissT about this issue. She first came on site a few years ago and posted a lot of information on issues such as this in the USA. You can find them in our den archives if it interests you. FrBrGr
Sorry if I am getting off topic here. Does anyone know how to split threads - ? Here are some of Pennsylvania's best dumb laws: It is illegal to have over 16 women live in a house together because that constitutes a brothel. (And here I thought the Delta Zetas were such nice girls - !) It it illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors. Any motorist driving along a country road at night must stop every mile and send up a rocket signal, wait 10 minutes for the road to be cleared of livestock, and continue. A special cleaning ordinance bans housewives from hiding dirt and dust under a rug in a dwelling. (Thank God I divorced my former wife before they threw her in jail!) You may not sing in the bathtub. (If you ever heard me sing, you'd know why!) Fireworks stores may not sell fireworks to Pennsylvania residents. (Damn! I guess I'll have to move to West Virginia!) A person is not eligible to become Governor if he/she has participated in a duel. Any motorist who sights a team of horses coming toward him must pull well off the road, cover his car with a blanket or canvas that blends with the countryside, and let the horses pass. (Don't wanna spook them critters . . . !) Ministers are forbidden from performing marriages when either the bride or groom is drunk. (Hey Duchess - Did you know that? Glad we got hitched at the JP's!) No more than two packages of beer at a time may be purchased, unless you are buying from an official “beer distributor." (Believe it or not, peeps - This is for real! And it sucks! ) All liquor stores must be run by the state. (You can't even buy beer and wine in a grocery store! That sucks, too! ) Motorized vehicles are not to be sold on Sundays. (It used to be that no stores could be open on Sundays. At least that's changed . . . ) You may not catch a fish with your hands. You may not catch a fish by any body part except the mouth. (Now they tell me - !) Dynamite is not to be used to catch fish. (But you can use fireworks. If you don't live in Pennsylvania and buy them in a Pennsylvania store . . .) In Allentown, there is a ban on men becoming aroused in public. (So what is a guy to do when he goes to "one of those" bookstores . . . ?) Alaskans aren't immune from dumb laws: Moose may not be viewed from an airplane. While it is legal to shoot bears, waking a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photograph is prohibited. It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane. (Unless it's in first class . . .) In Anchorage, no one may tie their pet dog to the roof of a car. (But it's OK to do that to your little brother . . .) Watch out, Floridians! You have a bunch of them! The state constitution allows for freedom of speech, a trial by jury, and pregnant pigs to not be confined in cages. Unmarried couples may not commit “lewd acts” and live together in the same residence. It is illegal to sell your children. (Well, maybe that one ain't so dumb . . .) Women may be fined for falling asleep under a hair dryer, as can the salon owner. A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing. If an elephant is left tied to a parking meter, the parking fee has to be paid just as it would for a vehicle. It is illegal to sing in a public place while attired in a swimsuit. Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown. (I guess that rules out having the annual cross-dressing convention in Orlando . . . ) Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. (Who would want any? Well, maybe a sadomasochist - see Georgia laws, below. Double jeopardy!) It is illegal to skateboard without a license. (Roller skates, too??) You may not fart in a public place after 6 PM. (That one leaves me speechless - !) It is considered an offense to shower naked. (So, how does one dress? Maybe with the strapless gown I can't wear in public . . . ?) You are not allowed to break more than three dishes per day, or chip the edges of more than four cups and/or saucers. Oral sex is illegal. (You've got to be kidding!!!) You may not kiss your wife’s breasts. (That either??!! Is there a law against shooting myself?) ReFur, are you sure you're happy that you moved to Georgia? In Georgia, The term “sadomasochistic abuse” is defined so broadly, that it could possibly be applied to a person handcuffing another in a clown suit. All sex toys are banned. It is illegal to use profanity in front of a dead body which lies in a funeral home or in a coroners office. (This one came along after the abuse law, above . . . ) Members of the state assembly cannot be ticketed for speeding while the state assembly is in session. (They need to get there to vote on dumbn laws . . . ) Donkeys may not be kept in bathtubs. (Neither may horses, goats or elephants. Sex toys are banned in bathtubs, too . . .) Signs are required to be written in English. (Excuse me??? That is just not politically correct!!! No one may carry an ice cream cone in their back pocket if it is Sunday. (That is obviously sadomasochistic . . . !)
brandy-uk
Ha h ahahahahahaha " title="Applause" /> Some of those laws deserve a place in a Hall of fame! My server for EFA is int he USA.. so the laws don't apply. The way the gov get around the law is by making illegal to have such images on your computer.. so you can be busted for just owning the images... I am no expert but I think the stuff I do with 'Black Fox' is more soft glamour and erotic.. the Police are after the Hardcore Violence...blood splatters and throat cutting BDSM photos etc etc... (even if it is acted and both parties consent..it is still illegal) brandy xxxxx
alphonso
Blood spatter? Throat cutting? I hadn't the imagination to realise that such acts can be sexualised. Sick, sick, sick. However should a line be drawn and if so where?
Worker 11811
I will admit to enjoying a good sensual bondage scenario and even the occasional "non-consent" fantasy but, I'm sorry, there are limits. I don't mind when people are made "uncomfortable" or even subject to a certain amount of pain like whipping, spanking, extreme tickling or forced orgasms. However, I draw the line at cutting, scarring, extreme body contortions or bloodletting! In fact, there have been a few times when I stumbled into stuff like that on the internet and it actually made my stomach turn! I actually felt physically sick! I really wish I could just erase the memory of that $hit from my brain! But writing laws about this kind of crap is useless. Those people who are really turned on by that sort of thing aren't going to be deterred by some silly law. People like that often don't have any control over these desires. They will do these things regardless of whether it is legal or not. The only things you will accomplish are to criminalize people who would otherwise be law abiding citizens. Furthermore, those who really do have a compulsion toward violence will be driven underground where their psychological problems will fester and grow from a minor neurosis into full-blown psychosis. Do the lawmakers out there understand what I just said? Read that last paragraph again! If you are enacting this law because you think you're going to stop people from becoming serial killers, I say you are DEAD WRONG! 180 degrees about-face from the truth! Instead of encouraging people who have problems to seek psychological help you will marginalize them. Marginalization is the last thing anybody needs. You will not prevent people from becoming serial killers! You will make MORE serial killers! Mark my words!
