Men Open Their Eyes To Fur

An article appearing on the Saga Furs website, dated 5/27/08:

http://catwalks.sagafurs.com/index.php?id=26&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=206&tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=1&cHash=ee573382bd

Of note in the article is the quote frpm Dorte Lanau Klint, Creative Director for Saga Furs:

"I'm happy to see how men are coming around when it comes to fashion and fur in their wardrobes. The amount of men's fur on runways and on men has been growing in recent years. For many years, and even now, men tend to shy away from fur and it's difficult to understand why. Cavemen wore fur and you can't get any more masculine than that. And if you take a look at a lot of historical figures, men of power certainly wore fur. But something happened in the latter half of the 20th century that changed the image of a man in fur. That's why it is so pleasant to see more and more fur at fashion shows, and on real men."

Hmmm . . . Now I wonder what effect it would have if the designers would hire more models that looked like "real men" . . .

The square brackets [ ] within the URL is the problem. The board software thinks a left square bracket is the start of another bbcode and stops interpreting the string as a URL.

Here's a dirty, rotten little trick you can remember...

If you ever get a URL link with square brackets "[" or "]" in them, replace them with their hexadecimal equivalents and they will work again. phpBB software doesn't know how to parse hex equvalents like "%20" but your browser does.

If you replace:

"[" with "%5B"

AND replace

"]" with "%5D"

your URLs will work again.

(Leave out the quotation marks and just take what's in between, of course.)

Brandy,

Doesn't he (The wet one) look too pale, and his jacket looks too small and tight, short in the arms.

Or is this the fashion for men's furs now?

To me most of these photos are like so many today.

The subject is so great. And so often I have hard men say "If I could only find a coat like yours I would buy one instantly. But all the furs for men are made in such strange styles on a one size fits all (Too big!) basis." These photos just fit in with this! Yep, that one looks small rather than big. But they seem to be trying to promote the idea of furs for men. And look at the photos. I guess it is just that I am beginning to hate fashion photos more and more. They are just so "False"!

Again, I love the subject. It is so right on. And probably the photos go a long way to telling us why the subject has to be written. Designers are doing such a terrible job on the whole concept of furs for men. And in the process destroying the market. (As an aside. I went into a medium size mall recently and looked around for a men's store. There were around 10 women's wear stores. And NO men's wear!

Totally agreed. I mentioned this on another topic. Brightly coloured dyed furs really don't work for men. The Sean John pieces look great because they are classy and subtle, which is somewhat refreshing given Diddy's rap roots, and compared to that yellow/white "thing" (which is typically more what rappers seem to wear). Diddy's Sean John brand seems to be making the right moves, all his designs focus on simplicity and are are not too outlandish. I brought some rabbit fur lined leather bombers a few years back too and they were very reasonably priced compared to the Juicy hoodies, which is good because he's making items a little more accessible to the energing / younger market. I do wish though some of his more expensive / catwalk pieces were easier to get hold of though.

I'm quite amazed how the Juicy hoodies have taken off. Like Joe said, the $650 price tag is a rip off (I'e brought a couple, but for about $150). It does show there is an untapped market.
