Favorite Fur Moments ...

Okay, it's a lil slow around here being summer (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) and all. So ... Thought I'd start a new topic and see what sort of responses I get.

Here are some of my favorite "fur wearing moments". Feel free to contribute some of your own!

December 2000, Montreal (Silver Fox)

I made my fur-wearing debut in Quebec! I wore my full length silver fox coat for the first time during a pre-Christmas visit to Montreal. I received several compliments on my coat while I was there ... But my favorite came from a middle aged woman who informed me (as she stroked the sleeve of my coat) "Your coat is beautiful. I love silver fox. I used to own one." (And from the attention she was giving mine apparently wished she still did!).

January 2002, Chicago (Silver Fox)

While walking south on Michigan Avenue I passed a woman waiting for transportation outside an upscale hotel. When she spotted me walking past in my silver fox coat, her jaw dropped slightly and she gave me the once over ... Twice. Amused and also slightly self-conscious, after half a block I turned my head and found her still staring at me as she prepared to enter a cab.

February 2005, Milwaukee (Silver Fox)

I had my silver fox coat folded in the seat beside me as I exited airport parking. When I pulled up to pay, the female attendant noticed the coat and asked "Is that a dog in your passenger seat?" After learning it was an inanimate object, she told me the coat was breathtaking. (Given that I had rejected multiple bundles of skins until the furrier got it just right, I was inclined to agree!)

February 2006, Chicago (Fisher)

I wore my full length fisher coat for the first time during a weekend visit to Chicago. It was bitterly cold ... The wind chill was below zero at 2:00 p.m. I wore the coat to the theatre Saturday evening. When I walked in I immediately noticed an attractive middle-aged lady wearing a superb whiskey mink coat. And she in turn immediately noticed my ankle length fisher coat. I was amused that she appeared to be (favorably) assessing the style and quality of my coat ... And continued staring at me and my coat until I entered the theatre. Given that I had put much thought into the design of the coat, I left the theatre feeling like I had achieved my goal of creating a fantastic fisher coat.

December 2007, Milwaukee (Coyote)

I wore my coyote coat to a Christmas open house on an unsually cold day. As I entered the courtyard I overheard a man tell his female companion "Now that's what I call a coat! I need one of those today." Given the wind that was coming off the lake, I was inclined to agree that it was indeed a "NeedAFur" day.

By the way ... Please don't limit posts to those similar to mine. I posted personal fur wearing instances but others may have favorite fur moments involving a significant other (say the first time a wife or girlfriend wore a new fur to dinner or an event). There must be hundreds of instances among denizens. I did not list all of mine (for example, another favorite fur moment would have been January 1982 when as a college student I tried on furs for the first time. When I tried on a men's full length gray fox coat in the district I knew at that moment I was going to be a fur fiend for life!).

OK here are some of my most precious fur moments:

must be someday 1986 ...

... first encounter of my best part with a rabbit fur peace I found in an old wardrobe ! There my real confession to furs began (of course just for myself in the beginning ...)

must be someday 1995 ...

... first buy of two NEW blue fox pelts at an furrier - way to overpriced at 600 german marks (now about 300 Euro); but priceless when cumming to the feeling it produces

1998 ....

... my ideal fur-piece for these days came to my home: an australian oppossum throw in dyed golden light brown colour ! Matching one double fur and one single fur pillow added a sleeping sensation. Although real fur, the throw alone is not enough for cold days to sleep nudely under it (it has silky backing)!

1999 ....

... my oversized blue fox fur throw with soft wool backing and two double sided fur pillows were enhancing my private collection. Best: the throw has zippers on three sides to be converted to a sleeping sack and has a broad collar on the remaining fourth side with double-sided fox fur !! O the good times with it and

I can only recommend this as the best but most expensive fur piece - unfortunately fox fur is not too sturdy and I have to realise that it might be worn out by 2014 ...

2000 ...

... my first "everyday fur" came to my collection: the sheared nutria pullover in black you can also see in the gallery:

http://vdsden.thefurden.com/cpgfd/albums/userpics/10100/Nutriapullover6.JPG

2005 ...

... I added a true sex bomb to my collection with the "explicit" fur suit - not for open wear

Especially to be remembered since I had to talk to the furrier quite openly ...

http://vdsden.thefurden.com/cpgfd/albums/userpics/10100/REX_Rabbit_Combi1.JPG

http://vdsden.thefurden.com/cpgfd/albums/userpics/10100/REX_Rabbit_Combi2.JPG

This thing could be worn in winter at northpole - it is double-sided fur and everything you touch (outer or inner) is soft and silky; but I definitely underestimated the warmth ...

2006 ...

The furrier who produced the suit for me disapperead (with the store!) from one day to the other, taking with him the rest of the rex rabbit for the suit as well as a black rabbit pullover of my wife and 38! chinchilla furs to be transformed to a pullover in the rabbit style

2007 ...

I made contact to a new open-minded furrier and designed and produced with her some really sexy toys ! I.e. what we call fur tubes, several different c...-rings, what we call a c... overcoat, sheared nutria briefs (double sided with detachable codpiece) .... all ideal to do (or let someone do)

2007/2008 ...

While thinking about adding a sheared nutria shirt to the pants (this fur is for me the best choice for clothing, but rather expensive...) we decided to produce my new furry dream: a single-sided rex rabbit fur overall (rabbit for balancing cost and value ... my absolute dream still beeing a fur overall made of sheared nutria ...)

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9465

Of course I left out some things which are not remarkable for me (at least I do not remember them right now ...)

Looking forward to other´s favorite moments

February 14 2004 My girlfriend greeted me at the door wrapped only in a full length tanuki fur coat as she took a seductive puff from a cigarette in one of those long holders. I had never seen her do anything like that before , she drove me crazy! then there was a long time ago, I was "pelted" by a silver fox stole. It was my awkward yet sensual introduction to the beautiful world of fur.

Zaphod_bee,

Totally diggin' the sheared nutria pullover, Dude. I think one in mahogany or a darker whiskey mink could perk up my winter wardrobe.

JGalanos,

I was totally focused on writing a post in this quite interesting thread that I didn´t comment on your initial post ! After all after reading your post it was sort of "must" to write my experience first....

For me you are a mature fur-wearer, since you have the heart to wear a little something as a SILVERFOX in the public. For me this is 5 steps from waearing my sheared nutria pullover

But after all since the pullover is a quite normal (for me more equal to "is not far away to normal wear, so that I can have the courage to wear it openly") it really ads a special something for everyday wear.

If you head for a mink version then you definitely go at least 2 steps further to spectacularity .... what is really good, since you encourage every fur-lover to at least have the courage to wear something like my "stealth" nutria fur pullover.

I´m really looking forward to others favorite moments as well as comments on my post

My favorite moments. Wow! There are so many.

The first have to be "vacations". The most memorable was one time when I went to Washington DC. I decided to go to Washington one time for 10 days. This was quite a long while ago, and early in my fur wearing experiences. I had to make a stop just maybe 4 miles away, and since they tended to be PETA folks, I did not wear fur there. However, for the whole of the rest of the trip I did. I well remember getting into the car and putting on that coat and thinking... "Oh Wow, I can wear this now for more than a week straight almost never taking it off!" I had a light coloured sheared beaver full length coat with a fur tie belt with me, and I had it on for the whole trip. I remember that so well! That was the experience that taught me that you can wear fur pretty much everywhere and no one will have a second thought. I got so many comments that time, wearing fur pretty much all day even indoors at museums, etc. It was a totally unforgettable experience as although I had worn fur endless times before, I had never worn it for that long at a time. That was a first.

Another time I remember I had just picked up the white mink and fox coat in my Avatar wearing it home out of the store the first time. I took a trip to Ottawa wearing that coat everywhere again. Places like Parliament, Supreme Court, museums, restaurants, etc. I remember the looks of admiration at it.

Lastly was a trip to Quebec City during Winter Carnival with the same mink and fox. This has to be the ultimate of course. A fair bit of the event out of doors. Furs often worn. Taking horse and cutter rides in fur. And again, museums, restaurants, etc. I remember meeting two people once and just as we met I heard the woman say "Wow, THAT was a cool coat!" One time I hung my coat near by in a restaurant where I could watch it, and an employee would stroke the coat every time he "Happened" to go by. And, endless were other comments by people along with conversations about furs, etc.

So, there you are. Just a few of my fur wearing experiences. Favorite moments while wearing fur. And yes. Before you ask. They are true.

I love it! Thanks fur sharing.

Zaphod_Bee:

*If I decide to have a pullover made I think I've settled on Cognac Mink as the fabric. It's an unusual, rich color that I think would make a stunning garment. We shall see.

*I think some guys work their way up to a dramatic full length fur coat (maybe starting off simple with a fur lined leather jacket and moving on to a fur jacket and then a fur coat). I didn't go that route. As I mentioned above, when I tried on a beautiful full length fox coat in NYC's Fur District during college it was love at first sight (and caress!). So when I finally worked up the nerve (and budget!) to buy my first fur, it was a no brainer. Nothing would satisfy my fur lust but a superb ankle length silver fox coat ... And the rest, as they say, is history.

Some more favorite fur moments ...

February 2007, Chicago (Crystal Fox)

While heading down in an elevator at the Hyatt Regency, a lady complimented my crystal fox coat (which I was carrying folded over my arm at the time) and stated that she loved the "hood". I was amused ... I knew the collar on my crystal fox was over-sized ... But I never thought anyone would mistake it for a hood.

April 2007, Milwaukee (Crystal Fox)

While out for a stroll a strong gust of wind off the lake sent a shiver down my spine. Brrr. In response, for the first time I turned up the collar of my season-old crystal fox coat ... And discovered the collar was so big it actually fully covered the back and sides of my head. Let's just say I was giddily warm for the rest of the evening.

Surely someone else has a favorite fur moment to share. OFF? AK? Linda? C'mon out and play! The water's fine.

My favorite fur moment was when I went to Dimitrios Furs in NYC, I tried on a lovely black fox jacket, a coyote stroller, some other fox jackets/strollers, and a mink jacket..... The owner, and another employee had a great time talking with me, and I had an amazing time in the store. Hopefully I can have a favorite fur moment with my OWN fur soon!!

CB ...

I was at Dimitrios Winter 2006. I tried on several furs and thought seriously about buying a mink jacket. Did you try on the coyote lined leather jacket? It's one of their signature items. I would have prefurred it with fur-lined sleeves as well ... But I could understand them not lining the sleeves to create a lighter weight jacket.

My moments are not as glorious as JG's however I recall walking the streets of a small mountain community of Big Bear on a winter evening. My wife was wearing her lynx stroller and I wore my full length coyote. As we passed by a woman, she commented "you make a very striking couple", and as we rounded the corner a younger guy in his 20's comes up and asks "where did you get that cool coat?" I gave him a quick tutorial on eBay... and he went away totally "stoked" with a big smile on his face... This was one of the first instances of approval I ever received.

Then last February I have told of our 10 year anniversary to Sun Valley --- but back up to 1998 on our honeymoon to Sun Valley. Then we took a 2-3 mile sleigh ride across a snowy meadow to a restaurant around 6:30 at night. We, dressed in traditional ski parkas and such, and absolutely froze our buns off. I have NEVER been so cold in my life. I vowed that when we returned, that would not happen again -- of course having the solution in my head all along.

This year we came packed with several fur coats that we sent on ahead. My wife wore her black fox stroller and black fox hat on the sleigh ride, I wore my raccoon coat. Seeing her bundled up in fox and I comfy in my coat made this years sleigh ride very toasty and sexy. (Actually I don't think the temperature was near as cold this year, but I couldn't care less, it was still 15 degrees or so.)

Wearing our coats out is the best.. I know it's no big thing for women, but it only took some 50 years for me to get the guts to wear mine out.. ever since it's been a joy with nothing but favorable comments.

Nice! I have always wanted to go for a sleigh ride bundled in a fur coat or under a fur throw ... Or prefurably both.

JG,

I have a few great stories to share here. They are actually in the old fur den archives, which I can't seem to access right now. I will look them up and post them here for you.

BTW, this is a great thread topic.

This as an old post:

Little boys in a fur shop

by ReFur on Wed Jul 13, 2005 5:48 pm

I wish those of you who have been following the fetish/ addiction thread could have been here in the shop today.

A father wanted his two son's to see what happens to the pelts he traps. The boys were probably 8 & 10.

They of course wanted to know what the different kinds were and to touch the furs. When they realized I didn't mind they literally buried their faces and kind walked inside the furs. They made little sounds of pleasure and kind of closed their eyes.

They were clean and were being careful, so they were not going to hurt the furs. It was wonderful watching them. I thought of how innocent and refreshing you would have found it if you could have seen them

Just wanted to share that with you.

Linda

Here is an old post I found that Joe had posted:

Welcome back, Melody!!!!!

I missed this place incredibly, although the brief vacation did permit me to get a great deal of work done...hmm... Well, it's December 5th, and now that Fur Season 2005-2006 is officially here in many parts of the world, I thought I'd chime in with a few not-quite-strange sightings in my area. I actually haven't been around the fur epicenters of the eastern USA lately, but I did visit Flemington Furs after Thanksgiving with my Mother and several of our cousins. You should have seen the look on some of our young cousins' faces when we picked up some of our furs from storage...between Mom's minks, raccoon, and her '03 Christmas fox coat and my coyote and assorted eBay, uh, collection...it brought back memories of when I was a wee lad and used to visit my aunts at the holidays.

Anyway, as to fur sightings, I was practically knocked off my feet the day before Thanksgiving. Out of nowhere, in the center of my sleepy little Pennsylvania town, a 6' blonde woman comes walking across the street in a glorious (and i'm talkin' Revillon quality here) full-length coyote trimmed in white fox. Her collar was all the way up around her face, and she was wearing what looked to be a black mink headband. Smiling all the way across the street, she leapt into some giant SUV as my attention turned to the other side of the street...bang. Full length raccoon coat on an elderly woman on the arm of an elderly man. That was it until yesterday, when I was taking the elevator down to the lobby at work. When the door opened, I was pleased to see a fortyish woman with short blonde hair in a fluffy longhair beaver parka standing with a colleague of mine.

Well, I'll be all over the New York fur sightings report next week, when I'll be taking the week off to turn 31 and...properly inaugurate the winter season with friends and furs, possibly at the same time.

take care,

J.

Joe
