JGalanos
There was an interesting Dennis Basso article in this month's Town & Country magazine. He mentioned that when he went out on his own in 1983 his father loaned him $50,000 -- Which probably would have covered his expenses during his first year in business. But instead of playing it safe he took a gamble and used the $50,000 to put on a fashion show and hire a well known fashion photographer to shoot a print ad. After the print ad appeared, Ivana Trump (at the time, Missus The Donald) dropped by and ordered seven (7!) coats. And the rest, as they say, is history. Sometimes chutzpah pays off.
