elbas3175
Has anyone ever bought or looked into buying a coat from Hong Kong, China, etc? And are they any cheaper than in the west? Coming from the UK, I've never bought a coat here on account of the exorbitant prices. Montreal and New York have proved more fertile shopping grounds. But I believe China is fast becoming the dominant manufacturing country in the world - their very low labour costs possibly translating into cheaper coats?? Guest
I'm considering buying a Fox spread from China in a few months. It will be my first purchase directly from there. Other than a very high end phono cartridge directly from a small Japanese manufacturer I've never purchased anything directly from the orient. White Fox
There are indeed savings to be had. On top of that, you can find the "High quality made in China" stuff that we cannot generally purchase here. (We will only buy low quality here.) BUT!!!!!!! You have to be ready to take the risk, possibly purchasing something of low quality by mistake. Having substitutions made. etc. There are a lot of legitimate sales companies doing that. There are also a log of rogues. A LOT of rogues that is! I think it is indeed pretty much luck as to how you come out in a lot of cases. You just need to know what you are getting into. You have a very high chance of coming out ok. A small chance of losing your money completely. If you hit the really bad case that occasionally comes up you can even have a dishonest individual relieve you of even more of your money before you realize the situation, and get out. There is of course the quality problem as well, but I think that many here at least can look at a photo and know reasonably well as to what quality a fur product is. trebor
The blanket is made od red fox fur SCRAPS. In this case, you get what you pay for. If this is acceptable then buy it. HOWEVER, when so many scraps of fur are used, much of the time there will be loose seams or the sewing misses joining the pieced together completely. This happened to me when I bought a blanket made from scraps of fur. So just be careful and make sure that you can return it if it is of poor quality.
