Here too. Generally along about the early middle of May we get a day or two now and then of that. But we need to wait for July and August to get it constantly. But now, today it is similar again with the next two talked about being plus 25. It's NOT fur weather here any more!

Fur season is officially over here in the eastern USA too...90 F north of Philadelphia today. I cooled my heels in Lake Nockamixon with the extended family after going to a big outdoor cook-off. I have actually been considering packing up and moving way out near where Bob lives - that place where they get snow in June. I haven't had a fur-free spring in ten years! But we're supposed to get a few more cold nights... guess I'll have to start thinking about how to store my 30+ coat collection. I missed the boat on this year's Christmas sell-down! Anyone in the market?

You have over 30 furs to store this summer? Yikes. Cleaning/storing my 10 furs costs the equivalent of a high end full length faux fur coat each year (even with a 20% "volume discount").

YEEAAHHH!!!.... It's COLD(er) than it has been of late and actually SNOWED in the Snowy Mountains to-day (Sunday Oz time) where Thredbo received 70+ millimetres of snow, about 2ft.... if it is the same measurement in rain as height.

Damn, gotta win me Powerball and move SOUTH!!!!!

Kudos, Mr. B! Good to see you online again~

Yes, I sort of missed the boat on my planned big Christmas sell-off after family health drama brought me away from home. I still plan to keep at least 4 of the garments for myself and one for conversion to a lining or trim.

JG, in reply to your post on another thread, I'm one of those crazy people who hates getting his furs wet. I keep about half the collection for the bedroom, and I take great care of the half that I'll buy to refurbish and sell.

...So in another thread, I mentioned I was in New York for the big snowstorm at the beginning of March.

Alas, I only really brought out my huge fox hat on a bit of the business end of that trip. That hat turned out to be a hit with pretty much everyone. My cheesy Russian accent finally found its sidekick. I even had folks stopping me on the street with compliments, asking me where I got it - hitmorozoff, of course!

I did break out the black fox parka for a stroll in Central Park before all the snow fell...but click the link for what was awaiting at the hotel room.

I was fortunte enough to snag a sixteenth floor balcony and king bed. In addition to the fox and coyote 'keepers', I brought a few from my private collection to snuggle up under the covers, too.

Now, these are all cell phone shots as my trusty Nikon was destroyed in February. Here's my view from the hotel (pm me for details):

I'm about to call it a season.

I wore my mahogany mink jacket to the theatre last weekend and one of my faux fur jackets last night ... but methinks after this weekend spring is here to stay.

Let's enjoy the "off" season!

I typed too soon! I had what was likely my final "fur fling" this evening. It's been cold and windy all day--There's a frost warning tonight. I've been doing some work around the house, trying to catch up before I leave for vacation, wearing cargo shorts and a t-shirt (and no socks). I checked weather.com and after learning it was in the 30's, decided to take a stroll in my silver fox coat. It was getting late and the park was going to close soon, so I went "as is"--The first time I can recall going out in shorts, t-shirt, and full length fur. It was definitely chilly but I was toasty warm. You know your fur is "ankle length" when you go out in shorts and no socks and you don't feel the wind.

Geez it's quiet around here. Just got back from a walk in my full length faux ranch mink coat. It's still chilly and windy here and the coat offered some very welcome warmth.

Last week I wore my furs while on vacation in the swedish mountains, mostly indoors but also outdoors for my evening strolls. The temperature at night was often around 6-8 degrees Celsius and a fur sure came in handy. Since there wasn't that many people around I took my walks dressed in nothing but two of my blue foxes, one inside out and the other one with the fur side out. Great fun!

Definitely fur weather today south of the equator.... and tonight.

According to the Aust Bureau of Meteorology, the temp 15 mins ago was roughly 50F... and there was a decent wind chill blowing in from the south west making it feel like 40F. And this is BY THE OCEAN!!!! None of that wimpy inland stuff *grin*

Yes, am wearing my blue/brown fox coat... normally used as a blanket this time of year.... as I type.... Been outside for a ciggy and right hand still has not recovered from the cold. HMMmmmmmmmmm gunna have ta get meself mittens methinks.

Wonder how many aussies are moving about their homes with personal body warmers of the natural kind *grin*

that makes 2 me thinks

Wearing brown fox jacket around the house, sleeping under sheep skins and a massive faux blanket (blonde mink faux, not the real McCoy, but a good substitute)

I miss the snow...

Not missing ice n snow ... But would welcome cooler temps. I'm already planning for the coming season. I plan to begin picking up my furs in early October and, weather cooperating, make my Fall '09 fur debut at the opera in mid October. (A mere 3 months away!)

We still have patches of snow on the upper elevations of the mountains where I live.

I expect the first snow fall the end of Sept. First frost in the valley around Oct. 15.

I'm cutting wood for my fireplace right now.

It's not unusual for us to have snow flurries by the second weekend in October ... So weather willing I plan to begin "rescuing" my furs from hibernation around then.

It is chilly here. I actually saw a gentleman at work today sporting a winter coat.

I'm heading out for a stroll in one of my faux fur jackets. This will mark the 11th consecutive month I've been out and about in either real or faux fur (SEP '08 --> JUL '09). I barely made June ... We didn't have a cold spell until the 30th!

Will August make it 12 consecutive months? We shall see.
