WinnipegFur
First sighting yesterday and it was +12 outside... younger girl wearing a full length raccoon at the bus stop... noticed as I was driving home... same thing last year as well, my first fur sighting was an older lady at work wearing a fox stroller... in +15 or something... the thing is, once it gets cold... the fur count goes down.. I don't understand it....
JGalanos
Recent sightings: Last weekened at the symphony I wore my mahogany mink jacket in low to mid 40's (F) weather. I saw a lady wearing a white rabbit 3/4 length jacket and another lady wearing a rich looking beaver vest. I also saw a gentleman wearing a Fabulous Furs jacket. Last night I went to the theatre in upper 40's (F) weather and saw a lady in a 3/4 length leather jacket trimmed in black fox from the collar all the way down the front of the jacket (tuxedo style). Rather elegant looking.

White Fox
Sobel and others. You bring up one topic that frustrates me. I pick up furs at the furrier, or hear others say "I have a mink coat but I never wear it as it never gets cold enough." Yet I live in temperatures that often dip to minus 10 degrees C, and by times get to minus 25 degrees C. The mentality of their thinking on this issue I find totally confusing. How could minus ten degrees C be too warm to wear a full length mink coat for instance. Hopefully as others who own fur begin to see how dumb that this attitude is, this will soon change. If it does, we would see a lot more furs rather quickly. It is so great to hear of others wearing furs in the normal winter temperatures, be it Norway, US, Canada, or even Australia. JGalanos
I wonder if the trend toward more casual clothing might play a role in the reluctance to wear dressier furs as well. Some people may be uncomfortable being "the best dressed person in the room." My furst fur was a striking ankle length silver fox coat and when I first started wearing it I felt like I needed to "dress up" a bit to justify my glorious outerwear and I only wore it to "high class" places. It's only been in the last couple of years that I've felt comfortable throwing my ranch mink coat over a sweater, jeans, and casual shoes and ducking into Chipotle for a fajita burrito. FurLoverinFL
About a week ago, there was a black tie event here in South Florida. Fortunately (perhaps, unfortunately) for me, my attendance was not required. A co-worker went to the function, only to report back to me how under-dressed she was... she wore a simple black cocktail dress... and was "horrified" to see women in gowns and "fox and mink stoles" getting out of the arriving vehicles. LordTheNightKnight
Shouldn't this thread be about first fur sightings of the season? Unless you stopped seeing furs in January.
AKcoyote
Shouldn't this thread be about first fur sightings of the season? Unless you stopped seeing furs in January. Good point. I believe that is what the OP intended.
JGalanos
To get us back on track ... Last night I had my first full length fur sighting -- A nice ankle length belted mink worn by an older lady at the theatre. She was kinda short, but I thought the extra long mink flattered her. I, as predicted, wore full lenth fur for the first time as well.
Worker 11811
I've seen a couple of faux furs but no real ones except for ones we own which just came back from the furrier this week. A nice ankle length belted mink worn by an older lady at the theatre. Theater? "Doctor Atomic" per chance?

FurLoverinFL
Just got home from picking up my nicer furs from the furrier - it's great to have them home after their summer vacation. My furrier did have a wonderful ankle length black mink that would've fit perfectly given some alterations... does that count??? FLinFL ...and no, I didn't get it... let's chalk it up to the bad economy!
Worker 11811
Well, I had my first official fur sighting of the year today. One of the ladies who came to the cinema was wearing a waist length fitch jacket. Chocolate brown and light tan. I had to laugh when the lady's husband called it "Polecat" If the weather stays cold I'm sure there will be more!
