The update for Obama made me think of those who missed it first time.

Interesting. Also interesting how many of them I can't recall anything about.

Notice that no president before Lincoln wore a facial hair in his official portrait except for the occasional sideburns.

 

Then, after Lincoln, almost every president had either a full beard or a mustache. The only exceptions were Andrew Jackson and McKinley. Garfield had some seriously knarly mutton chops going there!

 

Then, after Woodrow Wilson, no president had any facial hair at all!

 

It's weird how trends appear like that.
