Furry Weekend Planned -- How 'bout you?

I'm attending three events this weekend and planning to wear a different fur to each one. It's still bitterly cold here (we got ~6" of snow this week) ... So tonight I'll be in FL Coyote at a concert, Saturday night I'll be in FL crystal fox at the opera, and Sunday night I'll be in FL fisher at the theatre. Plus my beloved mahogany mink jacket will tag along in the event the temp rises above the mid to upper 20's (daytime) currently forecasted.

Anyone else planning any furry adventures?

Man, I gotta get to some more museums and "typical fur joints" again soon before winter ends!

What an experience. I hope to repeat something like that a time or two more myself this winter before winter ends>

On Sunday and Monday nights, the temp will drop into the 40sF here in southern Florida. At least I'll get a couple more nights of sleeping under my furs in before the warm weather comes.

It was freezing in Chicago this weekend -- And incredibly windy -- Brrr.

I saw lots of furs -- Minks, sheared beavers, raccoons, long haired beavers ... As well as many fur trimmed jackets and faux furs. Some of the minks in particular were simply superb.

I definitely appreciated the warmth and wide sweep of my furs (I did a lot of walking) -- Plus the compliments I received (especially the lady who simply uttered "Fantastic!" when I passed her wearing my crystal fox coat).

I've had another furry weekend (hopefully you have as well) ...

Yesterday afternoon it was chilly (low 40's) and rainy (ugh) so I was out and about in a faux fur jacket (and umbrella). Last night I wore my mahogany mink jacket to the theatre (it was in the mid 30's and the rain had mercifully stopped so no umbrella required).

Have I mentioned recently that mahogany mink totally rocks?

  • 4 weeks later...

~4" of snow is forecast for tomorrow. Brrr. It's late in the season (I saw my first fur storage ad the other day) so tomorrow may be my last chance to swathe myself in ankle length fox.

As mentioned previously, this has been my furriest winter ever. I tallied last weekend that I have made ~400 appearances in fur and faux fur over the past ~6 months. (Hey, I have to amuse myself on road trips and you can only sing along with ABBA for so long.) The "400" include multiple "appearances" some days (like wearing mink during an afternoon at a museum followed by wearing fox during an evening of dinner and theater). Yes, I have anal tendencies ... But I tend to remember when and where I wear my furs because (amazingly) after 10+ years of wearing fur each time still feels like a special occasion.

Cool!

I pretty much remember the furs I see.

This past winter, I was driving down the street, past a second hand store and I saw a really wonderful Tibetan lamb coat in the window.

A couple of days later, my wife mentioned to me that she had seen it too. We stopped and tried it on. Unfortunately it didn't fit her. It was too small.

A couple of weeks later, I noticed that it was gone. I wondered what happened to the coat.

The very next week when I was at the opera I noticed a woman wearing a Tibetan lamb coat walking through the lobby!

I just had to go ask her where she got it. Turns out that it was the very same coat we saw in the window of that store, two weeks earlier.

I told her how great the coat looked and I said I was glad that somebody got the coat who could appreciate it.

That was probably my prime fur sighting for the year... except for... well... my wife!

Cool story. I have one somewhat similar. Several years ago there was a photo in one of the Chicago papers of a guy wearing a tanuki coat window shopping on Michigan Avenue. 3 or 4 years ago our paths crossed on Michigan Avenue one cold Saturday. I did not say anything to him (crossed my mind) but we were both cognizant of each other, as he was wearing the tanuki coat and I was wearing my (rather glamorous and hard to ignore) ankle length silver fox coat.

P.S. I like your story better.

That same shop where I saw the Tibetan lamb had a tanuki coat hanging up in the back of the shop.

It was too small for me and it was a woman's style or else I would have been tempted to make them an offer for it.

It still had its original tags and everything. I'm pretty sure it was new.

I wonder if it's still there.

I suppose I should go look. Eh?

I love tanuki. If there was any chance it would fit the wife, then I would!

Well, then... If the weather is nice tomorrow and I can get out for a walk I might put my camera in my pocket and see if they are open.

They are open Tuesday through Saturday & closed on Sunday and Monday.

I'll be working every day this week until Good Friday.

If I can get out for a walk on Saturday I'll let you know.
