JG,

It seems like yesterday you became a member of the Fur Den!

You worked so hard to make serious, contributing posts to get you in the top 10%.

Now you are at 2000 and a major part of the fur den!

Thank you so much for your dedication and commitment to doing your part here!

So... here is to you JGalanos!!

So great that Linda saw this so quickly. It is always great to be able to recognize members for such things there. Folks, we staff have a lot of posts around here due to upkeep of the site so we pile up posts quickly. But for someone who is not a moderator to get that many posts means real dedication to a site such as this one. Also, JGalanos has spent a lot of time helping us with our links area here. As someone pointed out the other day, it is not people like us who make this site happen. It is people like JG or others who post here so often doing such dedicated work on our site.

Thanks JG for such a great job.

Congratulations JGalanos for your 2000th post " title="Applause" />

But, I am patiently waiting for the day when we all get to see the 1st photo of you in your sumptuous furs!

PS: I first wrote "the 1st photo of your furs," but then, I said, "Hey, once you started wishing, why not stop midway!"

I agree with both of Samurman's sentiments. It's a shame there's no popping champagne cork smilie!

2000 posts is very impressive, and all of them worth a read.

No pressure, but there's 2 patient members waiting!

No pressure ... Yeah, right!

I'll see what I can do before they head off to the fridge. My furs really are wonderful. I went for a stroll last night in my silver fox coat and could not resist the urge to stop under a street lamp, unfasten the coat, and twirl it around so I could examine the glistening pelts under the light. So plush, such great color, so well designed/made ... At times I have trouble believing these fabulous furs are really mine.

BTW, you may have already "seen" some of my furs, as they were based upon some of my favorite designer furs. My silver fox was based upon an Anna Natisse design, my coyote was based upon a Ralph Lauren design, my crystal fox was based upon a Grosvenor design, and my fisher was based upon a (my namesake) James Galanos design. I had each coat "tweaked" a bit (longer length, longer sleeves, larger collar, etc.) ... But they remarkably resemble the originals.

Whew, am I late doing this...but a warm congratulations to JG!

I hope to see some shots (even camera phone size posted on tinypic...!) of those vaunted furs.

Hope you're well and healthy,

peace~

I am worried about yu' boy! You've got to quite eating those 10 lb. marshmallows! They are not good for you!

With that, back to the real topic here. " title="Applause" />

Thanks, Joe.

We'll see about photos. As mentioned previously, I suck at photography. As an example, I took some photos of my fisher coat a couple years ago and they did not turn out well. The coat is a rich chocolate brown color and many of the details (turnback cuffs, over-sized notch collar, silvery guard hairs, etc.) were difficult to discern.

P.S. I realize I have a tendency to "wax poetic" when discussing my furs ... But I can't seem to help myself. Several of them really are extraordinary coats and "wow" me every time I wear them.

Help ... I love my furs and I can't shaddup about it...

The biggest mistake I've seen people make here is to take a photo with a window in view. So, the camera shuts down due to the window and the colours come out all totally wrong. Mostly too dark.

1. Make sure batteries in the camera are good. I've found digital cameras especially will seem to take a flash photo, but the flash is just not working properly due to poor electrical power. So photo comes out dark.

2. Take on a nice backdrop, with NO window in the photo if it is daytime. Photographer stands right next to the window the light is coming in at. So you don't block light. And take the photo with the window to your back and to one side with the subject looking toward the window.

3. Other great option is to take at night so you have total control of the light with absolutely NO light coming in the window.

4. Linda will tell you that by far the best option is to take the photos outside in the day time on a bright sunny day.

5. Interesting. Always wondered what a photo would come out like taken on a very dark night with no lights behind. With a flash.

Anyhow, just a bit of uneducated help.

It indeed takes a lot of dedication to get to that level. Staff here or on any site have to do a lot of posting that ups their counts. But for members to get to that level takes a real dedication to the site!

WF -- Thank you.

IMR -- Good to see you're not letting what you learned at that Gabrielle Solis School of Etiquette seminar go to waste.

Ah, yes! Trying to capture the essence of a fur on film. It was my obsession for a few years. Must admit, I was only able to a very few times.

Some think of golf as the ultimate challenge. It pales to capturing the beauty of fur! That is because fur is not something that you can just look at, you have to smell it, feel it, experience it. ..you know what I mean!

I would say the ultimate challenge would be to write an opera or a book (novel).

Capturing the full beauty of fur on film is tricky. It helps if you have a really nice camera and flattering lighting.
