JGalanos
http://www.iftf.com/iftf_3_1_1.php?id=169 Brief but interesting ... ‘Nothing better than natural fur to keep you warm and comfortable’, scientists say.
Worker 11811
Funny how science is just catching up with what the Inuit have known for centuries! There have been many stories of expeditions to the arctic where members of the party died from exposure to cold but others were saved when they were given caribou fur parkas. It is my understanding that caribou fur is one of the best insulators known to man, even when compared to all the modern fibers like Thinsulate, et. al. JGalanos
You're just full of interesting trivia, Worker.
Worker 11811
I was always one of those kids who asked silly questions like "Why is the sky blue?" and "What makes a car go?" By the time I was 8 or 9 years old, I had driven my parents practically nuts with questions. That's when they bought a set of World Book Encyclopedias. Thereafter, whenever I asked one of my stupid questions the reply was, "I don't know. Go look it up." By the time I was about 10 or 12 years old I practically read the whole encyclopedia from A to Z. Nowadays, I do practically the same thing only with Wikipedia!
JGalanos
By the time I was about 10 or 12 years old I practically read the whole encyclopedia from A to Z. Interesting. I did too. I spouted so much crapola in 8th grade (depth of ocean, distance to moon, etc.) that I was given the science award that year.
Worker 11811
Deepest part of the ocean: Mariana Trench = 35,000 feet. Distance from earth to moon: 240,000 miles. Circumference of earth: 24,800 miles. Distance from earth to sun: 93,000,000 miles.
