Velvet_Tigress
This idea snuck up and bit me when I was sneaking around reading old posts, and catching up on the new ones. I personally don't think of April as a furry month. Despite the fact that I have (and DO) wear furs any time I am so inclined to do so, April seems to be the time that most people are off to start putting away their "Winter clothes" and all too often furs seem to end up in the closet or in storage and packed away until the next good time to wear them. Every day this April it's been chilly enough for me to wear my furs with anyone seeming to take notice TOO much, but for fun I have declared this month "Wear Fur Every Day Month" for my household. I am going to wear fur out every day and I'll try and keep up and write about if anything unusual or exciting that takes place in my sojourns. As of today, Monday April 6th, the only thing unusual I have heard was "Soon time to put them away, hmmm?" This is in part what has spurred me to try this out, and just writing a lot more here is the other thing. Unless anything exciting happens for the rest of the day, I'll let you know what fun comes tomorrow. Velvet_Tigress
I love it! Do you have a white bunny fur coat to wear on Easter? Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell... ^_^ Today seems like one of those nice enough to wear fur or not days, but since this is a thirty FURRY days post, my vintage black mink jacket is coming with me to the grocery store. I'm afraid that I'm still dressed down (in jeans and a t-shirt again! The inhumanity!) but I can promise that I will wear something more fantastic later this week, as I have some plans to go to sort of nice places in very nice furs. I am going to suggest that the dirty minded amongst you mark your calenders for Friday night. Yes Worker, I do have a white bunny fur coat, and it's tempting to wear that to Church when I go with my Mom. If any of the kids ask, I'll apologize profusely for their lack of Easter Basket bounties this year. As always, if anything fun happens on my trip to the store, you'll get to hear about it later. Worker 11811
Well, I would downplay the "Easter Bunny" thing in front of the kids. Fur lovers or not. It would be déclassé to talk like that in front of kids. With adults it is okay to joke around but not with kids. As to the possible questions from adults regarding rabbit fur, you can remind them that people do use rabbits for food. Just as we use cattle for food, we also get leather. Why shouldn't we use the fur from rabbits to keep warm? Wouldn't it be a waste to eat the rabbit and throw away the fur? Where I live it has been snowing overnight. It will remain snowing till Wednesday. We only got an inch or two. A last little tease of fur weather. As a kid I remember it snowing in June. Velvet_Tigress
In Minnesota, as long as the weather has been monitored we have had snowfall at some time during every month but one. Any guesses for which month we DIDN'T get any snowfall? ^_^ I'd never really tease the kids about that, Worker. I'm in charge of Easter Baskets this year for my friends who need to hold on to their money for more important things, so in a way I will be the Easter Bunny for some friends kids. Maybe I'll wear my white rabbit jacket out when I go hide the eggs too. My grocery store trip was sort of interesting, actually. I got a few nice comments from the older crowd that was there when I was there. One nice woman seemed to remember that she had something similar to what I was wearing when she was MY age. She said she liked hers as much as I seemed to like mine too. While I am not a huge fan of all the vintage furs (unless you consider the 80's "vintage!") I really like the mink I have with me right now. Velvet

FurLoverinFL
Funny you should start this topic now, VT, I just sent my better furs off for storage yesterday (Monday 4/6). It's been hot here in FL for the last few weeks, so I thought it was time. Of course, no sooner do I do that, but the latest cold front is coming through and I could've enjoyed another night or two under them. Oh well, guess I just have to make do with my lesser furs and faux furs until the fall comes around. FLinFL
White Fox
Tigress, this is a tremendous idea. Looking forward to more of your posts. Here today it is snowing and carrying on like crazy. A few days back I was going barefoot while out for a walk. What a change. Today I didn't see anyone in fur but did see a gal in faux fur. It is c-o-l-d here today! Hope you have a cold 30 days so you can finish the project. Indeed I agree that many bring their furs back too early. I can in fact never understand it when I hear conversations when I bring mine back like "Yes, I did wear it three times this year". If you own a full length mink or fox, etc why would you not wear it all winter. I just cannot understand their thinking there. Good luck with the project. Great to see you back. Velvet_Tigress
Thank you for the warm (and dare I say 'furry?' ) welcomes back. Right now I'm in my favorite favorite furry fox robe, which is quite foxy as well, because I am -quite frankly- a lazy person right now. After a day of comic nerdery, shopping, and buying a HECK of a lot of plastic eggs, I think I'm allowed to sit in the tub for an hour and listen to some CD's, and spend the rest of my evening hiding inside and reading naughty stories. (More stories FrBrGr and Worker!!! ) The only person who might see me to say anything the rest of the evening may be my coming or not tonight (and for you dirty-minded folks out there... ) but either way I will be signing off for an evening of fun. The best moment today turned out to be a friend of mine at the store saying that I looked sort of like one of those pin-up models from back in the day. LOL He generally is not a fur fan, but I think I may have won him over playing "dress-up." Velvet, coming at you in a fox cuffed and collared bed robe (which would work perfectly well for going out, I suppose) and nothing much else. JGalanos
How did you night in full length fisher treat you? I changed my mind and wore my "heavier duty" coyote coat instead and was toasty warm. (Why is it that 30 F in April feels so much colder than 30 F in December?)

Maybe I'll wear my white rabbit jacket out when I go hide the eggs too. I'm sure you wouldn't. It was just a point of discussion, mostly. I still think a white bunny fur jacket would be cute to wear for Easter if it is done in adult company. Velvet_Tigress
Today was a slow, but still fun day. I was at work most of the day, but I wore the full length red fox out today into less than chilly conditions, partially because I wanted to, and partially because it's thirty furry days still! And what would I be if I stopped wearing them so soon? ^_^ Apart from having to run the AC for a bit on the way back, it was nice to be out and about in my "fancy furs" doing everyday things. When I stopped at the gas station to pick up some things for a friend, I just about knocked the poor counter girl flat I think. And the people who stood behind me in line looked a little taken aback as well. Mind you, it wasn't in a bad way, more a "What the heck is someone dressed like that dressed like that in HERE?" sort of way. You'd think for a place with all the taxidermied animals on the shelves and higher that people shopping there wouldn't be so surprised to see me! ^_^ The owner and I joked a bit, and he asked me if I trapped them all myself. I asked him if he shot all the animals on the shelves and caught the fish himself. We've known each other for forever, but the look on the counter-girls face was priceless! I'm back home now, just finished chatting with a member and I'm tempted to take a cold shower MYSELF after your stories (you KNOW who you are!) but may leave the window open and sleep under my fur blankets tonight afterwards. We'll see! Velvet
JGalanos
I just sent my better furs off for storage yesterday (Monday 4/6) I used to store my furs in April as well. But a few seasons ago I started "extending" the season, starting to pick up my furs (a few at a time) in October and waiting until May to store them (so I'm only "real fur free" ~5 months out of the year). My faux fur garments can come in handy in September and May ... And I have been known to snuggle under my faux fur throws on a cool summer evening ... So I technically enjoy some shape, form, or fashion of "fur" year round.
Velvet_Tigress
Just a quick message about today, because I have company over right now who want to see my furs too. ^_^ It was warm out and I wore my rabbit jacket, to stay in the spirit of 30 furry days and because I like my rabbit jackets and they don't get a lot of attention all of the time and I just like wearing it sometimes, because it's soft and really nice to wear sometimes. Tomorrow will be a fancy night, so I'll write more I promise! Velvet
Velvet_Tigress
First off...allow me to apologize for not updating what was going on last night, but WOW. There was a perfectly good reason, which I shouldn't go into here. I went out with friends last night, to the fanciest place that we knew of within any distance of where I live, and we girls wore appropriate furs for eating out. I'm not sure that there are set ones for eating at set places but my friend wore silver fox, and I wore crystal fox (and no one we met knew anything other than that they WERE fox ) and her significant other just got to hang off of us. Plenty of heads were turned, I think we got better service for being so dressed up, and there were quite a few compliments and only one small annoyance in the night. A young lady kept staring at our booth and conversing in hushed tones with her friends, who for the record seemed just embarassed, before she mentioned "You DO realize that animals in traps chew their own legs off to survive." and then started talking to her friends about how she would never wear fur, it was awful, etc. etc. Without any urging from our table, the people in charge decided that she was on her way out and were quite apologetic to us afterwards as well. The rest of the evening after eating out shall be a mystery for now. I'll write more after I see where the day takes me from here. Velvet

furup
It has Been a long time since I posted a message here. Today in NY it was vey cold, and rain threatened to start. Had to do some shoping and I decided to wear a mink and leather coat (leather side out). But could not locate it. So I wore my crystal fox jacked with hood, just in case. I think this is the latest that I have worn a fur out. I was fun, got a little over heated in the store. This am at home I had on my full length plantium fox, the over it put on a mink jacket with silver fox trim on cuffs and hood. Had the two coats on for about 1 hour. the it got to warm and I had to take them off. in addition I was wearing leather gloves with fur cuffs, and a silver fox pill box hat with the mink hood over it. fur999
W/F; was that in the top, or on top ? V_T; I am loving hearing your stories and exploits out and about, and it is giving me more reason to get out in my fox jacket when winter comes here, soon hopefully! Not really cold enough at all yet in Sydney, I walked to the shops in boardies, tshirt and bare feet yesterday, but when the snow comes down in the mountains and I take the missus skiing, my fox will come with me. It is an XL ladies, but with jeans and my cowboy hat, it looks quite masculin and mountain man style! For now, it is just being worn inside... Not many days left... 999 xxx
