CHINCHILLA refresh

I have a very nice CHINCHILLA scarf. However the fur has become disturbed. I really don't know how to describe the effect.

Can I have help to try to undo this effect. I have tried a comb, with not much success.

Any suggestions would be useful.

Thanks

Bob

Bob...

It is always hard to tell from such a description. However, I'll give it a try and then we can see what the experts here have to say.

Are you familiar with sheared beaver? Know how it has that really "Perfect" look to it? Well, with wearing it loses that perfect look. If you get it cleaned it will get that look back. My experience has been that the older the coat, the more often you have to get it cleaned to keep that "Perfect look".

Have you had your scarf cleaned lately? If not I would suggest that you take it to a furrier and have it cleaned. ***Do NOT take it to a dry cleaner or any other such place. It MUST go to a furrier even if a dry cleaner tells you that they can do it. They can't.

Also, we can see what the experts say, but unless you are very familiar with working with fur you have to be very careful using a comb. You can do a lot of damage with things like that rather quickly.

So, there you are. Those are my thoughts. Let's see if the experts think that I am reasonably close or out in left field.

It is difficult to tell from the original question, but this does sound like the scarf has become soiled by repeated close contact to human skin. Fur will pick up the natural oils and perspiration from human skin which will cause the hairs to become sticky and possibly matted. The ONLY resolution for this is cleaning and glazing by a reputable furrier.

Thanks for your advice, but I have only had the scarf for about 2 months, and worn it on about 10 occasions, so not sure that the problem? is due to natural oils, or long term wear.

Thanks
