Chicago furriers?

I'll be in Chicago in late March (20-24), was looking for recommendations for furriers in the area. I'm wanting to expand my collection. Any ideas, friends? Thanks.

If you're looking for a men's garment, I would check out the following:

Andriana Furs - 500 Block of N. Michigan Avenue

Elan Furs - 600 Block of N. Michigan Avenue

Chicago Fur Outlet - Halsted @ Diversey in Lincoln Park

York Furrier - York Road in Elmhurst

Island Furs - 103rd Street

I've had furs repaired by Elan and York in the past and they both did a good job. York is a bit out of the way in the West suburbs (not too far from O'Hare) and tends to be expensive (but you'll be there for the end of season sale) but they carry top notch goods and have a national reputation for quality garments and service. The Fur Outlet sells new and used (usually consigned) furs so if you are looking for a deal, definitely consider checking them out. Island is also a bit out of the way on the South Side ... But last time I was there they had a substantital men's selection (the salon is located in an African-American neighborhood).

Have fun!

Two more cents ...

Late March in Chicago can be iffy. If you own a nice faux fur or a real fur jacket, I would definitely consider bringing it along. The wind off the lake can chill da bones even in ~40 degree weather. Probably too late in the season for a full length fur ... But Ma Nature on occasion lets loose that late in the season (so I would check weather.com a day or two before leaving).

Will do, JG. I'm hoping Mother Nature will be as ornery in late March as she has been all winter. Want to hopefully take the full-length mink out for a stroll along Michigan Avenue while I'm there.

Go fur it!

You do see men wearing fur on Michigan Avenue (besides me!).

This season I've strolled North Michigan in crystal fox, fisher, coyote, ranch mink, mahogany mink, and American raccoon ... So your mink coat should fit right in.
