mr.beaverlamb
Great fur weather in the UK at the moment - and it looks like it will continue for a further week or so. OK, I know it's nowhere near as cold as you guys get it over there in northern USA / Canada, but it has recently been very cold for the UK over here for the past few weeks. Fantastic for wearing fur - have been wearing fur to work for the past two weeks, and hope to continue doing so for a few more days. Fur is *very* rare over here - for women and even more so for men - and I occasionally get some strange / bemused / confused looks from my shivering, cloth-clad, fellow commuters. But I had a very nice experience at lunchtime today at Covent Garden craft/antiques market. At one time there were three men (including me) all wearing fur, gathered around an antique stall run by a lady who was also wearing fur! This is EXTREMELY unusual, even given the cold weather. We three men just seemed to coalesce at the same moment in time around the stall, purely by chance? The lady wore mink, the other men wore fox, long-haired beaver and I (of course) wore one of my beloved full-length mouton (= 'beaver lamb' in the UK) coats. Priceless. elbas3175
Still freezing cold here in the UK. Tons of snow in Scotland, the north and down the east coast of England, and even in the south east. Travel chaos, as usual. Airports closed all over the place. Had a visit to London for a couple of days. Saw a number of faux fur hats and coats, a few fox fur hats, couple of mink coats around Bond Street, and a mink stroller jacket on the Underground. Then an odd feathered black and red fox coat at Paddington train station. Feathered fox is definitely not my favourite, but good to see this lady striking out I'm sure Mr Mockle will be issuing updates soon with all his fur sightings - it's that time of year. But I think he's based down in Brighton, and the trains aren't running up to London, so he may not have had chance to spy any furs yet. Back in Bristol, I went out for a late evening walk. Wore my new terracotta-dyed blue fox shapka and brown-dyed blue fox mittens (rex rabbit on the inside) from the arctic-store, knitted sable shawl, and blue-dyed blue fox hooded stroller - admittedly hidden underneath a down jacket, but it felt good nonetheless! White Fox
Always love to see these kind of posts be they from England, or from USA, Russia, Greece, etc.
elbas3175
You may have heard that the big freeze is continuing in the UK, with the customary accompanying chaos in the transport network. The south west has largely been spared the snow until the last couple of days, but it has been freezing cold. On the plus side, I am able to swathe myself in furs to keep warm indoors. And I have been walking to work in a big Russian fur hat, my new knitted sable shawl, and fox fur mittens without raising too many eyebrows. The amount of fur, even faux, in Bristol frankly remains disappointing. I hope others are having more joy wherever they are!
MrMockle
Elbas and all, Still freezing cold here in the UK. Tons of snow in Scotland, the north and down the east coast of England, and even in the south east. Travel chaos, as usual. Airports closed all over the place. ... I'm sure Mr Mockle will be issuing updates soon with all his fur sightings - it's that time of year. But I think he's based down in Brighton, and the trains aren't running up to London, so he may not have had chance to spy any furs yet. ... No fur sightings from the UK for me to report at all - because I don't live there at the moment - and due to the weather and travel chaos you mention there is a very high chance that I may not make it back there for Christmas either. No biggie though as it's not the first Christmas that I've been stranded away from the wider family if I am stuck here. I have though seen a few lovely furs on the streets of Alicante and surrounding towns and the shops are full of them, so a Christmas and New Year here may be quite fun enough! And of course London isn't the only place in the UK for fur spotting. If you recall from my reports from recent years, Brighton was perfectly good enough for seeing women of all ages out in furs in winter and sometimes in the height of summer too. Merry Christmas in advance everyone - and wrap up warm! Regards, Mr Mockle
mailonfurs
no wonder we sold to UK this season more than ever do you think the whole anti-fur movement has started to wear off a bit there?
furqueen2000
Lets hope so. The one thing this weather in the UK will do is make people realise that those cheap nasty faux furs may look alright in a party scenario but they do not keep you warm. Seen quite a few real furs in Manchester recently including two lovely red fox strollers. Hoping my wife will take the silver fox out on Christmas Eve but will probably play safe with the mink. elbas3175
I am in the Manchester area for Christmas, furqueen. Where is a good place to see furs here? I saw an American lady in a full length mink coat walking down Deansgate, and a lady in what looked like a rex rabbit jacket in the Arndale Centre. Many, many faux fur jackets and hats around the shopping centres and streets. Where will you be on Christmas Eve? I'm sure your wife in silver fox will be a sight to behold! Will you be wearing fur as well?
