Furbabe
I have done this before. I wore a pair of jeans and a knitted mahogany mink jacket. It worked beautifully.
White Fox
I do it often and love it. But just that I wear fur often here. I would not say that I love it more than wearing it with other combinations. Just love it at any time. Like I told a gal the other night. Just like sitting in front of a hot wood stove on a cold winter's night! Will be interesting to hear the comments here though. W
FrBrGr
Wearing fur with jeans is proof positive that fur is versatile, utilitarian and comfortable - not to just be worn as a "dress up" fashion statement. The remarkable thing is that the fur you wore over your "dressy" clothes to the theater, opera, dinner, etc., can be just as comfortable and fetching over a pair of jeans. I personally love the look of fur over jeans!
Guest
I love the look. I just don't wear jeans. Never have as they don't fit me OFF
shelley and kevin
I have worn my furs with jeans and Shelley has done the same. We don't dress up just to wear our furs. On the other hand I would never wear a pair of sweat pants with a fur......
ReFur
There is an appropriate fur for anytime. I have seen full length minks worn with jeans, and maybe in major cities I would, too. But, where I have lived, a casual fur is more appropriate for me. My biggest concern in wearing furs is not PETA, it is the concern that others will view me as being pretentious. I had several comments about this; never have had a comment about anti-fur. Now that I think of it, can't remember a thread or discussion on that issue. Hm-mm.. would love to hear Lynxette's comment on that subject, since I know she was a vary vast collection. Lin
White Fox
I remember a couple of times when I went to visit people wearing fur, and then went in not too long after wearing another. Maybe a month or two later or so. And there seemed to be a kind of "sound of silence" that second time. Never had it wearing the same coat. But have a couple of times wearing a different one. I think it is kind of on that idea you mention Linda. They sometimes see it kind of "over the top". So, I don't make a big deal of it but if I can remember, I will often try to wear the same coat when I visit "the same people". Just a bit of a hangup of mine. ReFur
I know exactly what you mean WF. People who are not aware of furs still see them as the extravagance they once were. I have to be careful when I wear them to work because there is the belief I am being pretentious in doing so. I don't remember discussing this issue before. If we haven't, I am surprised. For me it is the only social pressure I have ever felt wearing furs. Lin
RonGav
As for wearing with jeans.. that's probably my most common outfit.. My wife and I will wear furs in the snow country, and I usually wear jeans and she -- nothing but jeans. So the casual look is common with us. I don't have any fancy night-time furs, but wife does and will dress up when the occasion calls. I always promote the idea that furs should be worn during the day in a casual way. As for the pretentious nature of fur wearers, well that 's in the eye of the beholder, not me.
Guest
The reason I designed and had my furs made the way I did was specifically for EVERY DAY wearing. Usually with chords or khaki's. I'm talking construction sites and client conferences as well as daily shopping. I wear one of my furs EVERY DAY, from early fall till today. Probably for at least another month of the long range weather predictions hold. I get an occasional compliment but never a criticism. OFF
trebor
It depends on the fur......I wear jeans with most of my furs as does my wife. BUT, it looks a little out of place to wear a full length Golden Island Fox which is elegant to the max with jeans. Instead we get dressed up to the nines (I in my Black Fox) and go to the Opera. Just my stupid opinion. Furbob
