Montreal furriers

Suggest one furrier in Montréal Canada that is impossible. There are over 60 furriers in and around the city. They each in their own way try to present different styles. Every time I visit that city I visit a couple of new stores. I personally love the underground mall miles of stores (not just furriers).

You may have a "fur coat in Saks....wow, it was an orgasm for our fingers!" Wait till you start to walk through the fur capital of North America. I was absolutely astonished the first time I visited the city in 1967. I think fur is the greatest fetish of all; its mysterious sensuality is absolutely amazing. As you goes through that city every element of your body will reach the most astounding organisms a human can have.

I've purchased two furs from Oliver Furs in Montreal, a full length coyote coat and full-length red fox with hood. I was completely happy with both. They are of high quality, and the transactions were seemless.

Don't know of any others, but my local furrier buys from Canada. I can check with her.

Maybe i can help, i live here!

It is true that we have a lot in Montréal. Although it has change a lot in the last 10 years.

My first suggestion would be to go in the fur district which is located on Mayor, between Bleury and City Councillor. You will find some on the street, like "Hercule" or in the buildings on the street.

If that is not good ennough for you, that means you have to go to a one by one store.

Here is a few suggestions:

* Desjardins Fourrures, located on René Lésvesque and St-Denis.

* Jodoin fourrures, St-Denis and René Lévesque. (i bought a coat from them!)

* Fourrures Heritages, in the Old Montreal, on De la Commune corner of St-Gabriel

This is to name a few.

Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. It sounds like Oliver's is a good place to go. And thanks for the thorough list furslave.

I'll be in Montreal for 8-9 days visiting some friends, but I think I'll have some big chunks of the days to myself to wander about as I wish. Does anyone know if any of these places are willing/able to ship? I know Oliver's is of course (hence the ebay page). Are any of the others?

When I've had things done in Vancouver, BC I paid them through PayPal before I came up to get the item.

I was having jackets fur lined at Ace of Suede. Very reasonable and good.

Don't now how it would work getting something there and taking it back to the US

Just an add on to Furslave's list. The fur district has now moved to Chabanel Street west of St-Laurent Blvd. My furrier was in the last major fur building on the corner near Hercules Furs on Bleury. A historical area has now been displaced for condos. With the fur industry trying to make ends meet you can probable make some good deals. Labelle furs on St-Hubert St is also a good bet for quality garments. The visitors guide that you find in your hotel room usually will have up to date info on the locals and also how to get there. Enjoy your stay.

I would also mention Elysee Furs, from where I have bought a number of fox coats, all very high quality. In the city centre, if a little away from the main fur district. The website is www.elyseefurs.ca. The same family owns Argiriou Furs, which is in the main fur district, and which is just round the corner from Hercules Furs, which has a massive showroom - 2 floors' worth.

Oliver Furs, when I visited, is situated well away from the city centre. A number of wholesalers like Oliver, took the decision to move out of the city centre because of property prices. I think there are a number of other furriers in the same building as Oliver. I would suggest contacting Oliver before heading out there.

Heritage Furs has already been mentioned. It's in Old Montreal, my favourite part of the city, and is a gorgeous shop.
