trebor
Hello All, I thought that I was done with owning fur but I guess not. I found this gorgeous Golden Island Fox Blanket on Ebay that slayed me. It is 210X230 cm (fits a King Size bed). It was VERY rasonably priced. And I've wanted one for years. Guess once the Fur bug has bitten that's it. I've posted pics in the Gallery. FurBob
FrBrGr
Bob, we're never done with owning fur! For us, it's part of our life. The blanket is D-R-O-P D-E-A-D dead GORGEOUS!
trebor
Thanks so much for the kind words FrBrGr. I will post pics of the blanket when I get it on my Cherry Wood Sleigh bed. I think you are correct. Fur is Forever as one of our Fur Denizens once said. On this note I will have to tell the Community about our Fur Outing at the Sundance Film Festival 2 weeks ago. Worker 11811
Fur is Forever as one of our Fur Denizens once said. Bob, we're never done with owning fur! For us, it's part of our life. For nearly six years, the saying in my forum signature has been at the bottom of every post I make but, in all that time, only one person has ever figured it out. Okay... Maybe it's pretty obtuse but I chose it just for the reasons stated above. Oh, yes! Very nice fur spread! I'm jealous! I've been trying to convince my wife to get a nice one. Her objection is not to the fur but to the expense. Right now, we don't have the budget for it. Not nearly. For now, it's flannel sheets and a big, goose down comforter. It's nice and cozy but a fur duvet cover would make it a whole lot nicer!
auzmink
Worker - do it.......you and she won't regret it. I'm just relining my Silver fox spread (its in need of TLC) but it is soooo warm in Winter and so snuggly. Perhaps it should be every Denziens 1st stop... Bfur
You always had such wonderful coats. I was surprised when you were selling them. I think it's great that you purchased a blanket for the bed. We use a long hair beaver blanket now....it used to be a coyote blanket. Nothing better. Warm and heavy. Enjoy your new purchase. trebor
Thanks Bfur. There is some good news on that subject too. I got talked out of selling all of my collection. Some of it is intact. I will need to sell some of the non-core collection coats in oreder to help pay for the new blanket. I will let the folks here know which ones BEFORE I put them on Ebay. So you all will have first chioce. Bob
Worker 11811
If I may ask... What is it that made you decide that you were "done with fur" and sell off your collection? Was it economics, was it somebody else that made you feel like fur was "bad," or did you just get the feeling like you were becoming obsessed or something? auzmink
Not my place to answer for trebor, but don't we all get the feeling: 1/ What is this fetish, and should we not be getting 'over it'? 2/ It does consume a lot of time. 3/ Now we have all these resources on the net and its 'in the open' we are less possessed by it? I know I have asked myself many times these questions, but hell, I like being in fur... Auzmink
Worker 11811
3/ Now we have all these resources on the net and its 'in the open' we are less possessed by it? Internet resources aside, it's a good thing just to be able to admit to yourself or to anybody else that you like fur. There is a sense of liberation that you feel when you are able to (proverbially) stand up and say, "I like fur!" If anybody asks why you like fur or inquires about what you do with fur, just say, "None of your damn business." I am a consenting adult who is acting within the limits of the law, not hurting anybody or bothering anybody who doesn't want to be bothered. I have the right to do as I please, when I please and with any other consenting adult that I please. Nobody can tell me any different. If they don't like it, they don't have to hang around. Yes, I know it sounds like a harsh attitude to have but it's not meant to sound like that. I'm basically saying that, once you become secure with yourself, it doesn't matter what other people think. trebor
Let's just say that it was a marital problem. My wife doesn't understand our passion for furs. And one day I over reacted. And before I was able to get rid of the core collection I received some significant help from one of our friends here in our community. Since then my wife and I have reached an understanding. Since then, we went to The Sundance Film Festival. The day we went it was snowing heavily. She wore her F/L Coyote/Shado Fox coat and I wore My Arctic Wolf Bomber Jacket. We saw a lot of fur trim and a few Vintage Minks but nothing that came close to our furs. Probably we were there at the wrong time. Almost every block we were getting compliments. One gur even said we looked "Adorable" in our matching furs. A photographer from the LA Times asked us if he could our picture. We thought he was going to take one picture but he followed us for 3 blocks snapping pics. Quite a day. FurBob
samurman
Trebor, your story made me realize the importance of the Fur Den and the greater fur community. It is great to know that no matter what happens to me and how my relationship with fur changes, the community is still out there within reach.
