Cooling down downunder

Just as our Northern cousins welcome (or not) warmer weather, its cooling off down here in Auz.

I have just had a day In Sydney and noticed a lot of city centre fashion shops using fur / fake. An awful lot of vests, large collars, lots of Mongolian lamb type collars, and some real fur boa's in the higher end shops.

As the actual Winter arrives I hope the trend will move from dummy to real people soon and my other Auz contributors will add to the fur noticed experiences.

Noticed just yesterday, in the centre page of MX (a free paper on the train) a fashion article on the return of fur/lamb, with a centre fold spread of girls wearing some mongolian lamb, afew fake furs and a few real furs. One great picture of a girl in a huge fox collar. This was all in the free paper, on my hour long train journey home from Wynyard.

Agree with Auzmink, hoping that the furs make it from the shops and fashion magazines onto the backs of girls and boys in Sydney. It has certainly made an appearance on my bed already this week

Still hasn't really warmed up in the upper left hand corner yet.

Only getting to 50 at mid day. Still really cool nights but that's true all year long

Now that it is definatly winter, we are starting to see more furs around. I have been in the city most days during the week for the last few weeks, and am happy to say I have seen more fur out and about. The highlight was a big silver fox vest worn by a pretty 20 something girl over her office wear, but there is a lot of collars and hoods around. It seems to be more the Asians who wear the real fur trims on collars, hoods and Ugg boots, not sure why, maybe they care less about animals in their culture.

The real highlight for me was a cold clear evening with a beautiful sunset, gave me a good excuse to put on my red fox hooded jacket, and walk up to admire the sunset at a viewpoint up the road from home. Photo in the gallery members area.

Some good furs out and about in Melbourne this winter.

On my way to work on Tuesday I passed an elegant older woman in a reversible fox trimmed lapin jacket, and there have been lots of sightings of rabbit ponchos and fox trims on jacket hoods. Last Saturday at Flemington races in the members enclosure there was a red fox vest, sheared mink and the highlight of the winter a stunning blonde sixty something in a flowing golden mink which she wore with a pair of quilted black leather gloves...all on a sunny day with the temperature nudging 14 degrees!

Earlier sightings in the season include a vintage blue fox coat on a gorgeous young twentysomething at MoVida, who brushed passed me and nearly took my breath away, and a vintage red fox coat on another hip Gen Yer. At a houseparty that was more garden than inside, there was a sexy raven headed beauty wearing a white fox hat.

Last winter's tally of 2 minks has already been exceeded and we're only halfway through...and I haven't been anywhere near the opera.

Have to admit to being a little disappointed since the start of Winter

Sightings in the last few weeks include a full length red fox coat in a town South of Sydney, and lots of real + fake edgings on hoods / coats at the skifields but nothing to take my breath away...
