Worker 11811 Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 My wife was visiting the jewelery store today and she found a really neat necklace with five little fur ball accents. It wasn't very expensive but we both think it looks cool. We were kind of wondering what kind of fur it is. I thought it might be rabbit fur but she says that the longer guard hairs sticking out makes her think it might be mink. On second thought, that and the color, she might be right. What do you think?
AKcoyote Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 A very interesting necklace. I would tend to agree that it might be mink, but I think the fur is most likely scraps (possibly bellys). The prime back fur would usually have more of the longer guard hairs.
mailonfurs Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 definitely not rabbit probably wild mink. The hair is too irregular and the guard hair too long to be a farm raised mink.
Worker 11811 Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 An update... My wife wants to try her hand at making some other jewelery that matches the necklace. (She understands basic jewelery making.) Where do you think we can get a piece of fur to match what's in the necklace. She says she only needs a piece about six inches square.
