trextroy
Hello. I am somewhat new to furs and need some help. What furs are this coat made of. I am thinking mink on the collar? The body of the coat has very short fine hair, almost feels like when you pet a horse. It lays downward and sort of stiff so if you brush upward it lifts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. White Fox
My thought would be that the collar would be white fox dyed to look dark like that. White is quite uniform, and since that colouring is uniform, thus my thought. However, we can see what others here say.
trextroy
Thanks for your opinion. What do you think about the body of coat? The hairs are about 1/8" long and lay flat unless you brush against grain they are somewhat stiff.

samurman
Looks like "pony hair" or "pony fur" but I think, these types of furs are usually made from specially treated calf leather.
White Fox
I was trying to think on this one, and just as I came in today I was thinking of "Pony". But I bow to someone far more knowledgeable on this type of stuff than I am!
ReFur
My first guess would be an older seal coat. But, photo is not clear enough to tell.
