Snake
Lordy there is a lot of hate for 2dye4 going around. He did the best he could under trying circumstances. Was he perfect? No. He was too heavy handed, BUT, he was very devoted to the site. There is no reason to scapegoat him for the way things spiraled down at FFG. I think casting him as a pariah sets an ugly precedent. 2DYE4, thank you for coming back here to post at The Fur Den. While others here may have not understood your dedication to arbitrary rules and not much else, I always found it to be awe-inspiring.
White Fox
It is interesting to see the message here from 2dye4 on the FFG forum site. Interesting as I had been doing a lot of thinking here on exactly this the last two days. I "Hate like Hell" to lock a thread such as this one as no one is breaking our rules. Yet many posts go against a person, or a group of moderators, who hate to come here to defend themselves. But, I truly think that it is maybe time to move on. Yet, I am thinking, as I wrote yesterday, that this is a sort of a place of healing even though it is so negative. That is, I am thinking that many negative posts are really a frustration at seeing a good old site disappear. Many folks here have lost an old friend. The place that they used to see many friends. And the place where they used to come to put their feet up and relax with the thought of fur, at the end of a long day. ***1. I think it is now time to end this thread and to begin another. I am going to begin another thread here if someone else does not beat me to it. It will be a thread that is all tributes to FFG. Hopefully no or little negative stuff allowed. A place to remember it for what it was. Is FFG gone? We don't even know that for sure as of now, but it does look more and more like it might be after this long. ***2. We can decide what to do with this new thread in a few days. It can stay forever. Or we can do what many cultures do in tribute to those lost and "burn it up". i.e. delete it and let all of those thoughts go to the sky above. *** So to sum up. As mentioned. I am going to lock this thread now. But begin the new one if no one has already. A new place of tribute. Of Memories. Of positive thoughts. White Fox Staff Member. White Fox
All... One of our members sent me a fantastic and well thought out proposal in regards to this thread about the Fashion Forum. I was VERY impressed with his idea. It is as follows though the wording is not exactly the same... 1. That we keep the other thread for positive posts and we hope that members use it. (This is of course NOT a DEMAND in any way!) 2. That we re-open this thread for a short period of time. 3. After a period of time we lock it again. That time to be decided as time goes along. 4. At that time we give members the choice. We can leave it? Or we can delete it symbolically somewhat imitating the way some cultures actually burn messages so they can go into the sky for ever. ***I was extremely impressed with this idea. And I stress that it was one by a former member of the Fashion Forum. Not a staff member here or there. etc. On this basis, I am unlocking this thread again. I don't know if I was wrong or right to lock it. But I will certainly admit that comments proved that I needed to at least rethink the idea. And I always love it when members make such helpful suggestions. This message is repeated on the other more positive thread. Again, I still hope to see more positive messages there as I think there is a lot more "Healing" form them than the negative ones but that is only my idea I will admit. But I do really like the posts by Foxy, Snake, and others. And for now you can feel free to post here again as you wish. White Fox
Tiny-Tim
As a new member to the Fur Den I like the fact that the admins keeps the members in the loop not only about the decisions they make but how and why they came to that decision. atlanticfurs
I'll miss the place for the content it provided. But, if it's time to move on, it's time to move on. Here's to the future.
Nexii
Can't say I was all that surprised. FFG had some rather large downtimes previously with no explanation ever given from the admin. That being said I think FFG was a good site on the whole. It's easy to spit on the ashes and harder to look back at the good times. I made some good friends through FFG. Granted, some of FFG's ToS I didn't really agree with but it seemed the mods mostly behaved in accordance with the ToS. And yes a shout out to NTC too - without that site and FFG I wouldn't be here. fourrureclub
No come back to expect in my opinion... The Database Connection Error seems to indicate (always with my webmaster's point of view) that the files are on the server, but database is now empty... Panther10
I loved that site. I'm sad to see it go. Well I am glad to see so many familiar faces here at the FurDen. I hope some of our former members of FFG remembered to stash away some pictures, stories and youtube clips that will at least help keep the spirit of that website alive. ozfurlova
Sad to see the end of an era, so to speak, especially one I had invested some time in from constant reading, posting, chatting, etc. How fortunate though that we have had this wonderful forum to either welcome us back to or make a new fur home altogether. Guest
I hate to see the site gone myself, just wish there was a way to recover pictures I have posted and favored over there. Other than that, if the demise of FFG is someone's idea of a power trip then I hope they enjoyed it. The site is gone and this site as well as lots of blogs, Pinterest, and Tumbler will take FFG's place. They/someone may have destroyed the site but they didn't stop fur lovers from sharing on the web.

White Fox
As mentioned here, it is too bad that everything is unavailable from the site right now INCLUDING photographs. That part is particularly disheartening. For a good while the photographs were there and I had thought that IF the site was going down that Cookie was going to leave those so people had a chance to save them. But then he took them down too. We have often had dealings with Cookie. He always without fail treated us very fairly and nicely here. He seemed to be a good individual. IF the site goes down I certainly wish him the best and hope that this is not health oriented. I know what it is to go through bad health issues. Like maybe they were moved to a cloud service somewhere and now its just a waiting game before they all come back.

Just in case you missed it earlier in this thread: ps.i would like the FFG site to come back for a few weeks so we can get all the links and pics and post them here. The most recent snapshot of FFG on Wayback Machine is from 25th March: http://web.archive.org/web/20150325001017/http://furfashionguide.com/ Note that these archives don't contain full functionality - for instance, you won't be able to login because it's a copy of the site and doesn't include the member database - but if you're looking to grab links it's your best shot. Haven't been here for ages and it's just coincidence that I was passing through. Hope everyone's well! Not perfect - the 'View Larger Image' links don't appear to have been cached in the gallery - but surely better than nothing!
shadow87
FFG was a good site and well presented and user friendly. http://www.furfashionguide.com/furgallery/showphoto.php?photo=227706&title=2dye4-exit-message-5515&cat=537 This is really sad,the moderators did a great job there,it seems 2DYE4 has been trying to run the site and cookie was there all the time.Real shame. Snake
I love how 2CRY4 sounds like a complete sociopath in his final post. It's evil if certain models and sites post their hot porn links on the forum, but by all means, buy shit off Fursluts and Furbound and Furwhatever. He also plays the victim really well, and alternately condemns FFG members and wishes them well in the same post. Truly, a class act and totally someone I would want to be in charge of moderating a forum. Very mentally stable.
Worker 11811
I've had my opinions on the other site and I admit that they have been rather blunt at times but, putting those opinions aside, I have been thinking. I speak generally, here, and not about a particular site or person... When a website has a single, narrow purpose, it, very often, starts to spiral out of control. The membership and staff only have one thing in mind. When they run out of common interests to talk about, they all start trying to pull the site in different directions and that creates a series of power struggles. I think it is that struggle for control that causes the website to spiral and crash. Some people lose interest. Others try to tighten their grip on what they have left. That pushes the rest of them over a proverbial cliff. I think FFG went over that proverbial cliff and I also think that the Fur Den almost did the same. I believe that, in order to keep that from happening again, we all need to realize that we are here, participating in this website and the community, in general, for more than the simple reason of looking at naked people in fur. Oh! Fur sex is good! Don't get me wrong! It makes my boat float! Yeah, baby! But it's not the ONLY reason I'm here. I am also here to talk and learn about fur and how it is made. I like to talk about fur fashion. I like to talk about environmental and social issues that have to do with fur. I also like to talk about other things: Movies. Computer graphics. Photography. Sleight of hand magic. Electronics and technology. If fur is involved in those subjects, more's the better but it doesn't have to be. Our mission statement is that it is okay to love fur, no matter how you do it. (As long as you don't hurt other people.) But, to me, that doesn't mean that we should ONLY talk about fur. Variety is the spice of life. Right? We are the Fur DEN, not the Fur Dungeon. A "den" is a place where people go to take refuge from their daily lives, relax, unwind and enjoy themselves. Fur is our topic sentence but it is not the only topic. We need to avoid that narrow minded purpose that has caused other sites to fail. So, here's my invitation... Come on in! Bring your furs! Pour yourself a drink. Have a seat. Put your feet up and relax. Let's shoot the shit for a while. Welcome to the Fur Den!
