Furs you'd most like to own (for wearing)

OK All:

We've had the fur fantasy, the best soap star and fur bed fantasy. I got to thinking (which is dangerous) what furs would I most like to own to wear about town? So I thought I'd throw it out to the Den for responses. As per advice of ozfurlova in a separate thread, I will start the thread with my own top five list. I think we should limit to five otherwise we will have lists of 50.

1. Full length blue fox with NO strips separating the pelts. I think this is called pelt on pelt construction. I like the uniformity of constant fur.

2. Knee-length or a little lower Indigo fox. See above for construction.

3. Stroller length brown sable.

4. Stroller length whiskey mink. Double breasted, notched collar.

5. Chinchilla bomber jacket with pelts oriented vertically both on the body as well as the sleeves. Perhaps a horizontal waist band and wrist bands.

What a fun idea.

5. Red fox vest to be worn casually.

4. Black mink for biz wear.

3.Leather jacket with silver fox lining and trim, casual.

2. Sable coat for formal occasions.

1. Lynx coat for formal occasions.

Let's see now. A long chinchilla with a hood. A long white mink and fox to replace the old one of mine that is now worn out. And maybe a red and white fox. All with a hood of course! That would be my first small order with the larger one to come later.

I actually said: "WOW!" when I saw the mink. It's GORGEOUS!

I will try to follow suit and post pics of the coats I fantasize about.

Way to go! " title="Applause" />

I've been fortunate to tick off some of my fantasy furs on my list but one I would absolutely love to have is a true floor length chinchilla with horizontal pelts. There's just something about that look that takes my breath away each time I come across it

Given that the first two i already own I'm taking liberty to say that a Full Length Russian Sable and Full Length Blackglama Mink are an order......i could not find the style to post a picture of.

3. Sable (shifted gears and found a GORGEOUS F/L (yes I'd wear it as is), but would still like stroller): https://www.pinterest.com/pin/377106168775614503/

4. Subbing in a stroller-length coyote (NOTE: I'm picky about coyote): https://www.pinterest.com/pin/377106168775600232/

There's just something about that look that takes my breath away each time I come across it

I know what you mean ozfurlova! There are a couple that truly do that for me. I'll never forget visiting Fur Traders for the first time in Nevada City, CA about four years ago. They had a blue fox blanket on display and it was folded over on itself (fur side to fur side). I ran my arm up into the fold, and it literally took my breath away! I can remember it like it was yesterday!

Hmm decisions, decisions, decisions. Easiest thing to say would be Fox and especially Blue, but after that...... okay here goes:

5) Black Fox Bomber Jacket, Skin on Skin, with cape collar. The fastener would be the largest they can fit but set back on the right side by 3/4 inch, the left by 1/2 inch with the left side having an additional 1.5 inches overlap to cover the zipper (yeah, haven't thought about this style at all MUCH);

4) Blue Fox as above except with normal collar;

3) 54" drop double-breasted stranded, (but with less than 1cm of leather between the strands) with 5" full skin notched collar (not unlike the Blue Fox coat pictured above *drroooollll*) in Black Fox;

2) As above but in Indigo or Blue Frost Fox (Can't split them really) AND

1) Blue Fox, AS ABOVE PHOTO. Length would be 54"; Collar full skin, BOTH sides.

No particular order...

1) Blackglama mink full length unsure of cuffs or collar style.

2) Chinchilla jacket.

3) Blush fox chubby.

4) Silver fox 3/4" length with a tuxedo collar.

5) Barguzin sable full length also not sure of collar/cuff styles definitely belted.

I came up with another idea for a fur coat I would like to own: A very large and very long full skinned plus size indigo/crystal dyed fox fur coat that's accented with large diagonal black fox inserts in the sleeves and it should also come with a large black fox shawl collar and tuxedo front and a generous 100" sweep

Great question!

My personal tastes have changed a lot over the past few years, since I decided I had way too many pieces in my collection that didn't spark joy in my life. In my teens and twenties, I fantasized over amassing a closet full of furs. In ten years' time, the internet enabled this particular dream to come true. The mechanics of owning and taking care of my collection, however, including storage, cleaning, repair, and records of each piece necessary to be a collector and not a hoarder) became entirely too time-consuming. I shrank the size of my collection and continue to use the proceeds to renovate my home. It was worth it. Here's my short list as of August 2015:

In public:

-Large sable scarf

-Removable sable notched collar for my Givenchy topcoat

-Removable chinchilla collar and cuffs

-Blush fox lined coat, with a zip-out lining

-Sheared mink lined trenchcoat with fur-lined pockets

In private:

-Rex rabbit underwear

-Knitted fur double sided bathrobe

Quite simply

A blackglama black mink lined cashmere coat, 2/3 or full length just for those outings....to a corner shop maybe.

A 3/4 sable coat for nights at the opera, eating outside etc.

.

Plentiful supply of fox lined sheets for cold nights!

Probably a coyote parka and a raccoon coat

Someone after my own heart; when it comes to wearing fur. Both coyote and raccoon are soft, warm and durable. I really enjoy wearing those furs in public.

But when home and having a lazy day; I have admit that I really love the feeling of Canadian lynx, sable and fox caressing and embracing my raw skin.
