Fox Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Why does one need to login just to view the fora in the FFZ? This makes no sense to me. There's nothing explicit or "adult" in there.
AKcoyote Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Good question Fox. Possibly an oversight when the forum permissions were setup - I will discuss it with neoJaguar.
AKcoyote Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Fox, Limiting access to FFZ forums to members was done because of the high number of images there and to reduce bot traffic which eats up our limited resources causing intolerable slowdowns. If we ever achieve a consistent income level that allows for one or two dedicated servers that might change, but don't hold your breath waiting.
neoJaguar Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Will look into adjusting this. I personally don't see how/why it's a hassle to take an extra step to login to see content, but I will review it with AK.
Fox Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Does the site get anything out of members logging in?
neoJaguar Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Not really. It's all a free service to everyone.
Fox Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 I should have clarified that. I meant more in terms of any sort of important stats or other info.
neoJaguar Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Nope. Ad impressions from google, but that isn't really making the site much if anything.
Fox Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 It's not that it's a "hassle" to log in to view the fora. After being in the fur community for such a long time, you basically see the same 20-30 topics rehashed over and over. So most of the time I'd rather just scan to see if there's anything new/interesting. If there's something that stands out, then I'll login and reply to something.
neoJaguar Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I'm fine with that. We will adjust it. No worries.
