minkme
You know those fur trimmed hoods, some that look great and are very big? Here is an article about fur trimmed hood from the Chicago trib. Yes there was a study done on it and it keeps you warmed than untrimmed hoods. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-why-fur-lined-hoods-are-so-warm-htmlstory.html Here is the complete report: http://www.int-res.com/articles/cr2004/26/c026p077.pdf
lynxette
Yes, they keep you much warmer, and the really big ones are of course best of all. Thank you for sharing the articles!
minkme
I often wonder about the trim seeing that its been used for years. On fur coats, is it warmer with the fur side to the body or outside?
furs limited
Warmer with the fur side in. I have coats in both situations and one reversible.
WinnipegFur
I remember when I bought my used coyote parka I asked the furrier if he could line the hood with coyote instead of having just material on the inside.. he didn't seem to interested in doing it... I may goto another furrier around here and see if they would do it...
LeComte
Thanks Minkme! I wonder how large the effect is in the paper, up to a factor of 6 compared to without fur. Anyway, fur also keeps me warm from within
