Does anyone else wish that they could do a live action remake of 101 Dalmatians where cruella actually wears fur

Okay in both the 1996 live action remake of the 1961 101 Dalmatians movie and in the live actions sequal 102 Dalmatians glen close doesn’t wear actual fur in either of them. Her red and black coat is faux. I would love to see a live action remake where the person who plays cruella will don a full length power fox fur coat like a Golden Island, shadow, crystal or silver fox fur coat with a matching pill box hat.

I think many of the member would have loved it, and I do not think one would have to get J.Lo for it to happen, I would think that both Lady Gaga if she needs to be white, but I do not see that it is really so, and that would mean quite a few actresses could play the role and not object to real fur. And I can't really understand that the do give in on this, she is the "bad girl" of the story.

So personally I do PETA have gotten a really hollow victory, as long as the movies are made, many will still think that it is real, and it will still promote the wearing of furs, and what's left if you pull out furs from Cruella, since what she is in her story is mostly obsessed with fur and it is the crux of the story that she is willing to make lot of "nude" puppy to get fur.

I love your Idea of Lady Gaga!  I can only imagine the furs she could dream up with her artistic flair.  She wore a meat dress so I don't think she would object to wearing a pleasant variety of soft fluffy animals!

No, as much as I like seeing fur in films, 101 Dalmatians is a terribly negative portrayal of wearing fur. Women who wear fur love their pets and wouldn't want to have dogs turned into a coat. What I would like is more films with the "good" side wearing real fur.

I couldn't agree more!  In fact, I can no longer bear to see images of people wearing spotted cats (leopard, ocelot, etc) either.  In one of the fur stories in that forum, someone wrote a story that involved fantasizing about having sex on the hide of a newly-skinned lion and that, too, disgusts me -- lion are now under great threat and there is <nothing> soft about their skin!  In fact, it is harsh, prickly and irritating to the human touch!  Thank heavens that leopard are now protected, supposedly.  Dogs pelts, for real?  Horrible idea!  If you want to remake that movie with gorgeous foxes, minks and sables that were farmed for their pelts -- please go right ahead!  I'll watch it (J.Lo?  Yes, please!)

I have always thought of 101 Dalmatians as ANTI fur. I am quite sure any remake will be total animal rights propaganda. Having experienced a fur early in life I never understood why Cruella was so fixed on dog fur as opposed to a mink or fluffy fox to pamper the senses! I also believe very strongly in protecting endangered animals as well as the environment. I must confess that I am beyond irritated by all the  unjust negativity about fur. This form gives me an outlet to indulge my love of fur, so I let my wild side run a little wild. With that said I'm thinking Lady Gaga with a long slender cigarette holder swathed in a sumptuous fluffy fox stole. She would be caressing the soft fur as she sings the Cruella song  with cute little fox faces, paws, and tails dangling and swaying to her rhythm. When finished she flings a fox over her shoulder and takes an elegant puff from her cigarette!  Giving a silent FU to our PC world!!!!

The faux fur coat(the huge, white one) that Cruella wore in the show Once Upon A Time quite impressed me indeed. Although it is still a fake fur, the show did try to restore the shape and size of that huge fur coat that Cruella wore in the first generation (i.e. the fur in the 1961 animation). I really appreciate the show's effort of doing it, but still it would be much better if they use real fur(but it is almost impossible). 

Btw, I agree with what OP said, which I really want to see Cruella wearing real fur coats, especially the one which showed in the 1961 animation. The movement and waving of the huge fur hood and those fur tails attached on it drives me crazy all the time.

I never really thought of The 101 Dalmatian as being anti-fur since the denouement is really anti Cruella.  I don't think that furs per say were the target of Dodie Smith's story just that pupnapping is wrong. 

Probably worth remembering that all Cruella's husband's fur are destroyed in the end!

In the book she has ermine sheets on her bed. Who here wouldn't want to see a love scene in between those? Heck, I think I've seen interpretations of Cruella that she has a thing for Anita, so maybe she might have a fantasy of making love to her on that ermine bed.

I mean, watching the live action films.......doing it properly with real fur and adding a more realistic approach to how a woman wearing expensive fur coats would react when dunked in a vat of batter and whatnot, knowing she's in a coat worth thousands, and knowing the type of woman Cruella is who values her furs more than anything else.....I'd probably end up considering it pornography loooool!!!

The idea of Cruella staring at her precious collection of minks, sables, foxes, lynxes, all worth thousands....pulling out a beautiful designer fox fur coat, knowing how much she adores her furs, her precious furs......She'd for 1) be much more careful than she is in the originals, everything that could make her fur dirty, she'd be shying away from, which would add a great humour to the story. I imagine her going to an office building or something to deal with an issue and not wanting to go near the desks, or having to get on public transport in a scene and this kid wants to feel her fur and she's telling him to get his grubby little hands off her coat. 

To do a more modern take on it, would be fun for audiences, no doubt, it's a timeless story and making it more realistic would be funnier, especially when it gets to the end where she undoubtedly meets her end and her beautiful furs get ruined. There's a lot of room for her aghast screams as food hits her coats, and they could go on a grander scale than before where her mansion is overrun or something by grubby kids.

I like the idea of the Roger and Anita wanting to turn her unused 2nd home into an orphanage and so she moves back in and the whole film is about her fight to save her home (fits nicely with the anti-rich sentiment that's spreading across the planet), and her attempt to not only get back at them by turning their dogs into a coat, but also because she just loves furs and their dogs have unusually good quality fur or something. Then she loses the court case and the kids run into her house and start ruining her furs by wearing them and whatnot (it doesn't have to be too realistic looool). Add a few kids that form a group to fight back against Cruella, and it'd be a fun little story. 

BUT it'd be hugely expensive. Furs nowadays aren't on the same level as they used to be and she's extravagant as hell. Ruining real fur for the sake of a movie wouldn't be cost effective, and the anti-fur brigade would be all over the film even though the message fits their goals. 

I'd love to watch a more updated version of it though. It'd be really fun, and hey, we can all still imagine they're real furs right?
