Question About Creating Polls - The "Multiple Choice" Option

When creating polls, there is a check box to make it a multiple choice question.  What exactly does that mean in this context?  If I were to check the box, does it allow a reader to select only one choice?  Or does it allow the reader to select more than one option?

I don't have any experience with this, but you can try and see what happens. A post remains editable for a while so you can try out several options. 

BTW I tried it and I see a checkbox that can be used in case of multiple choice. I think it means that multiple options can be selected when checked.
