CoyoteFox
After a bad sight-unseen online purchase, I promised myself that I would never do that again... Until today that is... FOUND A RACCOON FUR COAT and I would appreciate your opinion whether the fur is SOFT (like finn raccoon) or COARSE (like North American)... Negotated a great price, and now annoying the seller with buying questions... haha It is really in-between and has me stumped. Thanks for your help! CoyoteFox
UPDATE: These additional photos should hopefully tip off a raccoon fur enthusiast... Does anyone know what this fur will feel like? Raccoon literally has the potential to be the best or the worst kind of fur... haha
furlvman1
I've found Raccoon to be pretty course. It looks great but the dozen or so ive felt have all been pretty wire like.
a_man_of_many_foxes
Yep, would have to agree that it’s probably pretty coarse. Looks good, but not usually as soft as it looks in photos.
WinnipegFur
My raccoons are pretty course.. my one Finn raccoon jacket is pretty soft, but the full length American racoon is wirey... which I actually like.. the coat I wear most often has a massive shawl collar that when its up almost goes to the top of my head in the back, and the sides of the collar are literally up to my mouth and cheeks... so combine that with a raccoon hat.. and well.. its quite the experience! If I was to put my head down you'd literally only see my eyes... One thing with raccoon I notice alot is it does accumulate ice on the fur alot... the last few days its been -40 with the windchill in the mornings, Ive gone for a few short 10-15 minute walks wrapped in raccoon.. but by the time I get back to the car, the front collar where its up is all covered in ice from breathing and freezing.. this then melts in the car and gets damp.... I havent noticed my beaver ice up like that.. I know my coyote, raccoon, and lynx all got icey though...
CoyoteFox
Arctic temperatures (for us) here in Toronto this week, and I'm really curious to see if Friday and Saturday evening will be the perfect setting for large-scale fur wearing... Ladies and gentlemen that have the furs and need the right excuse... Really sad to see the Land Rover trophy wives, who traditionally would sport real fur, duped into buying $7,000 faux fur coats... Pray for fur's return to greatness! Haha
CoyoteFox
Didn't buy the coat... "Onto" the next! 😉
